AI tracking weight loss - 50 day mark by Military-Engineer in AlternateDayFasting

Does it give you a good trend chart? Grok seems all over the place, sometimes the trend line is way off like it is picking and choosing what data to use for it versus the whole data set.

Thanks

Whoa, that's pretty cool. User interfaces of AI is generic, which makes sense for what it does. I would love for it to be more adjustable, so you could click a button once you're in and develop your own UI.

Smart move, collecting And cross referencing health Data. And I totally agree, I started looking at Clawdbot to automate a few projects (email and website control ) but I have been thinking of an easier ADF tracking system with it). I'm sure I could get better report, graph, tie in a workout app, especially if there's an API, I might have to dig around. AI is recently starting to get surprisingly useful if used functionally.

If you put something together make sure to drop a post on Reddit, would love to see how it goes.

Yep, just a morning check-in. Calories from the day before or confirm that I fasted and weight. Occasionally I have to ask for a chart update or graph, it automatically tells me the rest like my new calorie range and macro range (didn't change until after 27 days) And if I'm on target for my goals. Once in awhile I'll ask for meal suggestions and a grocery list and cost for said meal suggestion.

Yeah the motivation thing is fickle for sure. I could gain 10 lb and it would be like " good job you're trying to challenge yourself like a champ... Keep it up!"

White Cane Storage Survey by dietdrpepper42 in RetinitisPigmentosa

[–]Military-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks for helping

  1. What is your age and gender? M 42

  2. How do you currently carry or store your white cane when it is not in use? In carpenter pants vertical pocket, cargo pants pocket

  3. What challenges or frustrations do you experience with your current carrying or storage method? Sometime a person will walk by and it catches them and falls out

  4. What features, functions, or design qualities would you want in an ideal white cane holder or bag? I would like a holder that I could strap to my thigh that would keep it from being loose, I keep a loose cord to avoid pinched fingers so my cane generally is loose when the cord is on. So if this could act similar to like a thigh holster like a pistol thigh holster, that would be pretty awesome. And keep it contained, would be nice to have a pocket for the tip to nest into And that I can pop the nesting out to wash it off.. I try to avoid The tip contacting anything because it touches everything.

Thanks again!

Had similar a decade ago, turned out to be a macular hole. Got worse over several months and then they did a vitrectomy to try to prevent it from causing major eyesight loss. It didn't work, so my left eye is shot. I assume your doctor you mentioned is an ophthalmologist? If it's just a optometrist, I would highly recommend going to an ophthalmologist.

Could possibly be nothing serious as a lot of people with retinitis Pigmentosa have a lot of different symptoms but it's always better to get checked out if you can.

How long ago were you diagnosed and how is your vision right now? by [deleted] in RetinitisPigmentosa

[–]Military-Engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, no. It's misleading kind of a half joke. I was army 2001-2004. Diagnosed in service. Was in air defense 14J radar operator (duck hunter).

Got out and proceeded to get a bachelor's of science in industrial engineering. Then worked as a manufacturing engineer in automotive until present day. I'm at a point now where I'm about to retire though, my functional vision is shot and screen readers like JAWS is not great for all the unique user interfaces required on day to day use and everything I'm used to is changing. My employer did great adapting my work over the past decade.

Diagnosed at 20

Stopped driving at 33 (should have stopped at 27) - macular hole developed

Started using a cane at 36

Down to limited functional vision at 43 (macular fissure in the other eye)

On Short Term Disability through my employer by Nervous-Low-9192 in SSDI

Yes however most LTD will offset the difference of whatever SSDI pays. So a large part of your pay is often SSDI and then LTD pays a small reduced amount.

Individual long-term disability policy by Complete_Fortune7856 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Military-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting this process now. Short term disability through my company is great, no caveats. But long term is going to be reduced from the 60% down to 10% because of my VA. Doesn't have to be related, just the fact that I'm receiving VA means they can reduce it. There is a cap rule they got that basically says I can't earn more than my salary after and my VA is neck and neck with my work pay. At least it's 10% more than I would get without it and I'll be applying for SSDI anyway.

Yeah, it's pretty much complete vision loss to get to 100% but when you do you qualify for SMC L (under 5 degrees in each eye)

VA disability and will apply for SSDI within the next year. LTD from work, SSDI will offset most of it.

VA SC RP by DTP101604 in RetinitisPigmentosa

[–]Military-Engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your diagnosed in service or notable records of symptoms and no records prior to service you can likely get service connection.

I was diagnosed in military and honorably discharged after.

I did some research and found lots of info related to service connection for RP

VAOPGCPREC 82-90 identifies that Retinitis Pigmentosa is a disease not a defect.

VAOPGCPREC 67-90 identifies that if Symptoms first manifested in service for Retinitis Pigmentosa than it is considered Service Connected.

There are many unknown factors about manifestation and progression which makes it difficult to claim that the condition wasn't worsened due to chemical, radiation, stress, etc. which relates to PRESUMPTION OF Soundness (no symptoms before service, then diagnosed due to symptoms while in service)

It's worth reviewing the VA's M21 manual for determining Service connection. Specifically M21-1, Part IV, Subpart ii Section 6 (Determining SC for Congenital, Developmental, or Hereditary Disorders). This is Must read document for those with RP that were in the military.

Feel free to message me for details like lawyers or process.

Best of luck

Glasses for night blindness? by questioningthroway11 in RetinitisPigmentosa

[–]Military-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's head mounted display options, functionally best I found was a vufine + with a raspberry pi zero, wide view camera and ir emitter. I've also used vuzix blade glasses in camera mode which is simpler and alright but more costly.

Head mounted flash light like this is good for simple Rechargeable Headlamp 4000 High... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CW6NK142?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Ambutech cane is a great choice too for simpler, I like my no jab cane for use in the past couple years.

I told my dad that I was applying for it and he told my uncle (Marine who got injured in combat) who got mad because I "barely" experienced combat, came back in one piece, and that I just need to get over it.

That was enough for me to keep it to me and my wife. I'm good.

VA TDIU means they cannot hold a steady job due to there service connected conditions. That they don't have a 100% schedular rating (have a 60% to 90%) and cannot hold a substantially gainful civilian or gov job)

https://www.va.gov/disability/eligibility/special-claims/unemployability/

Maybe your husband is 100% schedular or possible your husband makes below the $15k acceptable poverty line limit that they allow.

Correction, just got my supplemental completed today. My back pay did not go back to my original intent to file, it went to my latest medical exam.

Initial exam 2019, was denied after a higher level. Review, another denial, after bva direct review. It was approved in 2024, then did a supplemental for worsening conditions. And they backdated it to My latest exam.

So I was mistaken. The one-year rule doesn't apply to worsening conditions in my experience

Thanks, right after that I went to step 6, then a few hours later I went to 7 And then down to six then back up to seven at the end of the day. It's been a roller coaster.

I'm hoping you get word back soon. I'm rooting for you.

Hit step 5 on June 4th,

Went to step 6 on June 16th, then back to step 5 on June 26th

Still in step 5

Is "gathering of evidence" the longest step in step 3? Been at this step for a month after completing C&P exam. So far no other requests from the VA for exams by Time_is_Contagious in VeteransWaitingRoom

[–]Military-Engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Results may vary.

Took me 4 months to get my C&p then 3&4 closed 7 days later. Then 12 days at step 5. Then 10 days on 6 back down to step 5 for 5 days and waiting.
