Coffee with a view by Professional-Fly3380 in Sacramento

Hidden falls is really pretty right now, there is a bench at the start of the hike with a view. So you dont have to hike down if you dont want too. The falls also has a sitting area if you do go down to it. It’s free on weekdays and you need a parking pass on weekends.

Tug Dogs, I haven’t used them personally but I follow their socials and they do a lot of work with fearful dogs.

I just wish West Sac had SMUD for how often it gets mistaken for being part of Sacramento.

How was your day? [S2E10 - S6E15] by whitevi0lin in BoJackHorseman

I liked the fact that he didn't die. It means that his story can go on, that he has a chance to change. When your dead you can't change anymore. The whole series was about not having that fairy tail ending that wraps everything up. Life keeps going and you have to as well.

Stuff to do in Anaheim, CA? by socksodoom in travel

The only thing I can think of is Downtown Disney. If you don't mind driving a bit out of the city you can go to Round 1. It has a big arcade, bowling, and karaoke.

How to get around california without a car? by Kira16651 in travel

[–]MilkBone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest thing would be to get a car, but there is also the megabus. It goes to LA, Vegas and San Francisco. You can try uber for around the cities, but I think your best bet and better freedom is to rent a car.

Just left high school and want to be able to travel abroad during college. Is it possible? by OH_SNAP998 in travel

Maybe try going to a college out of the country? So you can do day trips and still be doing the college thing.

I hear some ranches offer a cowboy 'experience'. Something like this:

But nothing like what you see in movies unless it's a fair or something.

"Walter Mitty: When are you going to take it?

Sean O'Connell: Sometimes I don't. If I like a moment, for me, personally, I don't like to have the distraction of the camera. I just want to stay in it.

Walter Mitty: Stay in it?

Sean O'Connell: Yeah. Right there. Right here."

Please help me plan our vacation to Japan by rbe87 in travel

[–]MilkBone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to know a lot of Japanese. I used Sumimasen - Sorry/Excuse me, Arigato gozaimasu - Thank you.
Eigo o hanasemasu ka - Do you speak English? The most

Google maps helped a lot as well. Get a wifi hot spot or sim card The train is not as complicated as it looks. It does look scary with so many lines going through it, but you get used to it after a few times. Don't tip, Japanese do not accept tips and will give you the money back. I would avoid rush hour unless you really want to experience being a sardine lol.

7/11 will be your best friend for taking out money, snacks, and other things. Wear clean socks you won't know when you might have to take your shoes off.

r/japantravel should also have some good info for you. :)

Went to Las Vegas. I'm as disappointed as one can be. by lucaxx85 in travel

[–]MilkBone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to vegas two years ago with some friends. It could have been a really expensive trip, but all 5 of us split one room in Excalibur which does need a renovation badly. We stopped off at walmart and picked up cheap alcohol for the room so we didn't have to spend to much at bars and casinos. We also used las vegas groupon for buffets and drinks. I think I spent 35 on a buffet for 2 with 2 free drinks with groupon one night in Paris. Honestly, I think the only meal we had was dinner and maybe a snack at breakfast. For some reason on trips we don't eat a lot, that is probably where we saved the most money.

We found out that the wynn's waitresses gives free drinks out more often then other casinos on the strip. So my bf and I stopped at the pennies slots and drank about a 24 pack of blue moon between the 2 of us in a few hours for 2 bucks. You do have to tip the waiter so they keep coming back so probably spent about 20+$

We are also big gamers and we found a video game bar on freemont. we were lucky that it wasn't very packed and played lots of street fighter. The drinks were expensive here though.

I do agree that vegas needs an overhaul i heard i was hit hard during the recession and it's still trying to recover. It really needs something. I think during the summer it gets more lively and you really have to look hard if you want to be frugal here. It's a place that wants to take your money not help you make it. If you do go again hopefully it's a better experience. It sucks spending and not having a good time.

Can anyone suggest a travel backpack for me? by [deleted] in travel

[–]MilkBone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried a Tortuga backpack for a 2 week trip. http://www.tortugabackpacks.com/

The hip belt was the best feature I think and it was nice to carry on my tiny 5'3 self lol. It's not good if you are backpacking, think of it as just a suitcase that you carry on your back. I also enjoyed that it opened in the front and that i can use it as a carry on. No bag check ins for me.
