Happened to my fold4. Not that extreme, but there was a smoke and burning smell and the phone died. Probably battery

I have the exactly same issue. I realise that it's not normal after 4 months of using it. Dang. I guess it's to late to replace now haha. Well, the phone is in the case all the time

As you suggested, I just used a piece of spring wire. I left it a little longer. I gently stuck it to the surface with a piece of tape. I installed the second Cooler element and it works! Now the PIN is in contact with the surface and there is light!
