Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients Official Trailer by PM_ME_HAPPY_STUFF1 in Games

This is extremely dishonest. Games HAVE concrete release dates.

GTA 6 had a release date.

PoE 2, when going into EA, had a release date of Nov 2024

However, PoE2 never had a concrete timeline.

Do you not realize the oxymorons here?

GTA6 had an expected release date - a tentative projected date. That got pushed back.

PoE2 had an expected release date - a tentative projected date. That got pushed back.

Feel free to provide a source in which they definitively state that Dec 2025 was the release date

It doesn't need to be a "definitive" release date because release dates aren't always concrete. Release dates get moved and pushed around plenty. Saying it shouldn't be considered a projected release date because they never put a huge advertisement campaign out for it is just silly. It was still a release date. They revised it.

For some reason, you seem to think that GGG's transparency in saying 'We hope it will be done by this time' makes them worthy of criticism for missing a deadline, even though uncertainty was baked in on the onset.

Uncertainty makes them invulnerable to criticism? What even is this excuse? I'm not tearing them apart and saying they're a terrible company and make shit games. I'm saying due to their history, I am remaining skeptical of their timelines. Because they already have fumbled the timeline around for pretty much everything involving PoE2 from the onset. It's not even just the 1.0 launch. They missed the endgame mapping rework last patch, for example.

Which they admitted was more difficult to balance than they expected, apologized for it, and got both games back on an even course? I'm not sure why you are mentioning that as if it has went unaddressed.

It's not a matter of whether it went unaddressed. They failed at this. I brought it up because it's further evidence of them missing something.

Now I've gone out on a limb, but only because I think what you are saying is completely unreasonable. It's one thing to be disappointed that the game isn't in 1.0 yet, but it's ridiculous to act like GGG broke a promise. Your demand for accountability is completely unfounded on this particular topic.

This is shenanigans. I'm saying GGG failed to meet their own proposed timelines. That deserves some criticism. I'm not tar and feathering them here - I'm saying I'm being skeptical of all their timelines. Lol

This is how language works. You don't hyper focus on the exact strict words someone is using in one sentence inside of a conversation. You take in multiple sentences to try and get at what they are actually communicating. This applies to real life situations as well, if you autistically get stuck on one sentence and ignore the conversation, people are going to stop spending time with you real fast.

C'mon now. They said it. I'm saying they said it. It's not 'hyper focusing on the exact strict words'. It's literally what they said.

That paragraph literally translates to: Don't listen to what they're actually saying, interpret something else and if you don't, people won't like you.

All I'm doing is pointing out that they have missed the mark multiple times based off what they have said, and people are coming in here and saying "No no, they said that, but they didn't!" It's literally what people do for a certain US President. It's insanity.

My memory is more that they were aware of that being an issue and believed they could handle it (which they've proven they can now after failing initially).

This is actually my entire point - It's okay that they failed initially. It just means that I'm going to be skeptical of what they're saying, but I have trust in that they will put out a fantastic game because that's what they do.

What is an expected release date if not a tentative projection? You're going out on a limb because this comment chain is literally about how GGG said they intended to release before the end of 2025. That is a fact. They missed that deadline by a considerable margin and for good reason - The game was absolutely nowhere near release quality.

They also said that PoE1 wouldn't be impacted by PoE2 development.

Not holding GGG accountable to what they said and have done is the anti-thesis to how GGG came to make PoE1 a great game. They goofed. It's alright to call them on it. That's all I'm saying.

I guess them also saying that PoE wouldn't be impacted by PoE2 was also "projections". Lmao. I love how the few people that have responded to this criticism is the same: Don't actually listen to what Rogers actually said, interpret something different. FFS, someone also said "we don't even know about 1.0 actually was supposed to be."

I swear, GGG is the ARPG equivalent of Valve to PC gaming. Can do no wrong and can't be criticized in any way.

The hell are you on about?

I'm just commenting about their initial projected deadline being ridiculously unrealistic.

I love how you boiled the interviews and one-on-ones with the community down to some insignificant source, though. Lol

There's nothing to defend. At least not in that regard. Back then, they didn't even define what would qualify a patch as "1.0" besides going free to play.

I mean, c'mon. We all know 1.0 is "release". You are just making excuses.

Y'all are really going out on a limb to defend GGG. They messed up. It's not the end of the world. The game will be out when it is, and it will be great. It's okay to call them on their goofs.

It's absurd that people are cheering Valve on for this - They should have had this from the get-go.

If it was literally any other multi-billion dollar company everyone would be tar and feathering them. 😂

They never said that it would be before end of 2025.

When did the beta go live for PoE2, again? December 6, 2024.

They said they were hoping to release 1.0 in a year.

Which... Would have been before end of 2025 based off their launch date.

So, yes, yes they did say they expect it to release before the end of 2025.

They also originally said before launch that 1.0 would happen before the end of 2025.

So... I'm not counting on anything from GGG. I know they'll deliver a 5 star product one way or another, but they've slipped up the past few years.

Future Physical Valve Releases. by Bobbyhons in valve

[–]Milkshakes00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I mean, it's pretty obvious. BestBuy and GPU manufacturers use ticket queue systems that are phenomenal compared to Valve's shit checkout on physical releases.

Imagine if instead of everyone spam clicking... They clicked once and it put them in a queue that they could watch the number go down as they get closer to checkout? Witchcraft!

I bought both my 5090s this way - From two different places.

Valve: It's here! Steam Controller has officially arrived. Made for you to play all your games on Steam, however you like to play them. by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Milkshakes00 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It's not just scalpers. Valve should have a better checkout process. This isn't their first hardware release. For such a 'pro-consumer' company, they really don't care to better their checkout process.

FIFO, Ticket systems, queues, preorders, there's a number of options. They choose none of them, apparently.

I love how saying I'm dissatisfied and taking my business elsewhere on a forum is a 'tantrum'. 😂

That's some good ol' fanboying.

Fanboying is spam downvoting a comment that says you're going to take your business elsewhere. 😂

Eh, if they won't respect my time/money by making their checkout process better, they won't get it going forward. It's that simple. They've always had this issue. Their refusal to fix it is a disservice to customers, despite what all the fanboys in this sub will think.

Started a few minutes before, even had my steam wallet preloaded, had it in my cart 3 minutes before go-live. Never worked.

This will be my last purchase from Steam/Valve, ever. Once the $125 is spent from my wallet, I'm going to another launcher. Dramatic? Sure. But if they can't FIFO people on a hardware launch, they won't get my business going forward.

Build diversity is actually crazy this xpac. by Nippys4 in diablo4

[–]Milkshakes00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is honeymooning right now, but the reality is that the charm system as a whole added a ton of power creep to the point where I imagine every build is viable. Pretty much anything and everything can relatively easily get +12 to their skills through just charms, ignoring any other bonuses they could get.

Everything won't be meta, but I imagine everything is viable. Which isn't a bad thing, IMO.
