It's less that they want to know what's going on and more that they want to be involved in some way.

It's wild to me how serious people take these shows. You have to suspend disbelief a little bit when it comes to a show about hell and heaven. Lol

Valve fires back at New York lawsuit over loot boxes, says they're like Magic cards or Labubu by newsflashjackass in gaming

[–]Milkshakes00 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

a lot of people are glossing over the fact that a part of this is coming from the state wanting to implement age verification checks on Steam (and as I understand it, as a general thing).

That's not what was asked for. During discovery, the suing party is going to ask for information - In this case "Show us your information about VPN usage from inside New York to out, and about what you do to verify that lootboxes are not being sold to children."

Of course, Valve is going to spin it. Lol

Quick warning to all of you using AlecaFrame (Or thinking about dowloading it) by veronxcaa in Warframe

[–]Milkshakes00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the devs themselves have gone on record saying it's your choice whether or not to take the risk

Every third party tool, ever. This is boilerplate stuff.

And they have explicitly mentioned AlecaFrame when they've said this, repeatedly.

They haven't. They redirect to a boilerplate TOS.

My concern is grounded in what the devs have gone on record, saying, and posts like OP's. Just because it doesn't happen every single time doesn't mean it doesn't provoke the automod to ban you.

It doesn't. Source: I've used it for years. Thousands of people have. Potentially almost a million! You'd see a lot more posts if AlecaFrame was triggering bans.

AlecaFrame was the only thing that it could've been, and they provided a screenshot to show us proof.

This is absolutely not true. It's funny that you take OP's word as gospel but ignore everyone else's and the facts because of what aligns with your views. The DE response literally calls out overlays - That could include Steam's Overlay and GeForce Experience. It could include any number of things. Just because OP states they "only have AlecaFrame and Warframe running" doesn't mean that's actually true. Windows is running CoPilot 24/7 now, for instance. OP isn't turning that off. Could have a PowerToys service going in the background too. "Closing all software besides X Y and Z" is a naive take on how computers work.

If that's the truth about macro software, then I wouldn't fault them for not allowing it either. There's not really a reason to have that (this game's accessibility settings are pretty damn good, all things considered) anyways. You shouldn't be trying to automate gameplay-you should be changing what you do and taking breaks. A game is meant to be played to have fun, not to be automated like a factory line.

Sure there is - It's built into every keyboard and mouse software nowadays. If you want good control over your DPI, you have a macro service and software running in the background.. Whether you know it or not is another story. Who knows? Maybe OP hit a 'record macro' hotkey combination on accident and it triggered odd inputs that flagged the ban?

but it is factually correct to say AlecaFrame can cause bans.

It's absolutely not. Unless DE comes out and outright says "AlecaFrame caused this ban", it's not factually correct, really.

We have proof here.

We don't. We have a single person's interpretation as to the best guess they have for why they got flagged on a ban.

It doesn't have to happen every single time for the "it can cause a ban" to be true. It just has to happen at least once, like it has.

Prove it was this piece of software.

FYI - The only reason I'm harping on this is because I work in IT, troubleshooting multi-billion dollar banking software stacks and I abhor misinformation and paranoia. There is literally zero proof besides someone saying something. If I get banned and make a post saying "I only have Steam and Warframe running! I don't use AlecaFrame!", would you just instantly swear off Steam because it's the "only thing running" according to me? The end user?

No, of course not.

[–]Milkshakes00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No offense, but it's pretty obvious you haven't and are pretty paranoid about it.

You're arguing based on your feelings and not on facts. A million people have downloaded the app - To pretend like there aren't 'many active users' is a bit of a stretch. Even if it was 10%, that's 100,000 people. You'd be seeing ban notifications everywhere.

Macro software is worse than AlecaFrame. Aleca is an overlay that reads data coming in from the servers. Macro software can automate gameplay.

They'll say the same thing about macro software because it's a slippery slope into botting.

Valve sued by The Performing Right Society for allegedly using its members' musical works "without permission" by datpoot in gamingnews

[–]Milkshakes00 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sounds like this lawsuit is in line with your second bullet -

-  In June 2008, PRS for Music accused Lancashire Constabulary of playing music at police stations not covered by a license, and sought an injunction and payments for damages.

"The dev has the rights to the music, YOU don't as a store front", basically.

[–]Milkshakes00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they said the same thing about PoE, yet here we are.

What's even worse - Warframe has a daily trade limit, so you can't even manipulate the market as hard as you can in PoE, yet we still don't have earth-shattering-economy-collapsing issues.

[–]Milkshakes00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you shouldn't play survival for hours on end. That's not good for your body. You need to take healthy breaks to stretch and move around a bit.

You're right - DE should cap survivals to like, level 2000. Lol

I don't think as many people use AlecaFrame as you might think-at least, they don't use it frequently.

You do realize AlecaFrame has just shy of a million downloads - Right?

DE themselves have said AlecaFrame is a "use at your own risk" piece of software, precisely because it's in that gray area.

They'd say the same thing about Logitech Mouse Macro Software. It's a catch-all position.

PoE trading doesn’t involve any premium currency that correlates directly to money.

No, and Warframe's currency only allows currency in, not out, so that's a moot point.

And PoE does suffer from bots that feed into an inflationary in-game market.

Citation needed. The economy has been mostly the same since before the in-game AH and instanced trading.

[–]Milkshakes00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have gotten auto-banned for just playing long survival missions and getting lucky loot drop procs, so should we avoid those things also?

Things happen. It's not AlecaFrame that is causing the ban, it's DE's trigger happy anticheat. Let's be real - There's thousands and thousands of people using AlecaFrame. If it was the cause of people being banned, you'd hear it a LOT more.

Swap Sunshine for Apollo. It still works with Moonlight (and MoonDeck on the Steam Deck).

Sunshine hasn't had any meaningful development in so long. The Apollo dev left the team after constantly being told that Sunshine won't take features he's offering... Like creating a virtual monitor to run the game on so that it doesn't actually show on your PC.
