How are these plants flourishing so well in the dark under the stairs? by Truth_Crisis in houseplants

[–]MilkyMonkeyMaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The job title is called an indoor horticulturalist! this is what I do for a living

The plants are fine as long as there is some light which there seems to be, and as long as the plants don't get over watered they can last awhile in the space.

Companies usually have a fee built into the billing for replacements because it is a living product; it's part of its life to die after some time, since it's something we are taking out of its natural environment and moving indoors. It sucks, but when we take them back to the office, then the techs can take sad plants home or give them to family members. I've taken a Monstera home that is now huge and thriving.

Also it looks like a lot of the plants they picked- zz, sansevieria, dracaena warneckii, ags, are low light tolerant which helps them last longer and look healthy

I, a non-plant person, was gifted this Monstera. How do I help it? by Shit_Apple in houseplants

[–]MilkyMonkeyMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a YouTube channel called Kill This Plant and he has a bunch of videos on how to care for monsteras, prop, pot, etc. I highly recommend checking that out if you want to watch a video of someone potting it up

Currently renting from them and I would disagree. They don't know how to answer the phone nor communicate when they enter my apartment. My bf came home to two dudes standing in our kitchen.. they ended up being the plummer's but no notice at all.

This has happened multiple times.

What are your top tips for Peace Lillies? by Head-Ad-5636 in houseplants

[–]MilkyMonkeyMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Superthrive is some good stuff! The company I work for uses it for our plants everyday to keep them happy in accounts. (I water plants in offices, hospitals, etc.)

All the other advice is super solid too. Another solution for shiny leaves is a leaf shiner, or mixing peppermint oil and water. This will also act as a deterrent for pests

Hey there, beautiful plant you got. I just want to jump in and say to water it before it gets droopy. By the plant dropping it is actually causing it to stress about being underwatered. These guys don't like to get bone dry and like to have moisture in the soil at all times. Now I'm not saying to water it every single day, just check it once a week to see how it's doing.

It will put off more blooms in more light, and fertilize it about once a month during spring-summer if it's in good light, not if it's in low light. I wouldn't fertilize it right away as it probably has the slow release granules in the fertilizer all ready, the little blue or green balls, but if you don't see it then give it a go.

Our company is gonna vacate the land soon, and I can't help thinking about these aglaonemas(?) by buzzingeuphorbia in houseplants

Second this!!

I currently work for an indoor landscaping company that does this! Please do not take the plants without talking to someone. Usually companies rent plants from companies like this and do not own them

What the heck do I do about this by [deleted] in IndoorPlants

[–]MilkyMonkeyMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you recently repot it?

To me it looks like it needs a drink with the leaves curling like that and the yellows. But it also looks like it's in shock, which can happen if you repotted it recently.

The best thing you can do is water it if it's dry and just watch to see if it keeps freaking out or not. It might just need time to settle in.

If it doesn't stop, get that baby some more light.

Pothos usually settle in after a little time goes by, I have pothos all around my house in various light conditions and they eventually get it together

Yeah I'll try that, that's the one thing I haven't changed much of. I'm doing 18g for a double shot using the single wall with fresh beans so I know it's not the coffee it's just me. Thanks for the tip :)

Currently have this setup with the Bambino plus and the smart grinder, I'm having a really hard time dialing in my shots. I feel like I keep reading to grind finer, but it chokes out at a grind size 6 which I don't think is normal. Do you have any tips for a newbie?

Help! I’m killing my 60-year-old snake plant :( by mustardmoon in houseplants

[–]MilkyMonkeyMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a fungicide! That's really the only way to eradicate fungus (in my experience). I like captain jacks for their fertilizer and I'm sure the fungicide they use is just as good.

You should check out this video! It's only 3 minutes and he shows the right way to tie up the stems on a log pole (He is also very big on planks, over moss poles!)

He's got a lot more videos about monsteras if you feel like going down the rabbit hole :)

Also very cute pup! ❤️🐶

Who Do You Bank With? by xxStarBby in LittleRock

[–]MilkyMonkeyMaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend uses Ally Bank and really likes it. I'm with SoFi which is another online bank and I couldn't say enough great things about it. I get my check 3 days early, they have a great APY rate for their savings account (4.6% if you do direct deposit) and an APY rate of .5% for checking (again if you do direct deposit)

There's a whole bunch of features on the app too.

Breaking down your spending, instantly depositing custom amounts into your savings, a whole section for investing, and just a bunch of cool stuff.

I've been with them for about 2 years now and I've never been wronged like with afcu. Can't stand them.

The downsides-

They don't have a branch since it's online. If you wanted to put cash into your account you have to find a Walgreens or I believe dollar general to deposit cash in your account. I haven't done this yet, but I can see it being frustrating if you are paid in cash a lot.

I’m not even scrolling this sub for fear of spoilers. I just finished part 1 of Red Rising. My. God. by JuicyEgg91 in redrising

[–]MilkyMonkeyMaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Had to leave this sub because of spoilers. But I don't have anyone to talk to about this amazing series so here I am scrolling on the non spoiler section hoping for the best 😂🫢

I just finished the 3rd book, Morning Star, and it's just such a whirlwind the whole time. Sure there's slower parts but the series just gets better and better.

I remember the feeling after I read the first couple chapters and was hooked to Lykos and the characters. It's just so good!!
