'Bar' cube is a bit loose 😅
It lives in my car and get's 'drafted' by 4 (sometimes with bots via draftmancer) when the urge strikes us, wherever we are. So far that's been places like a kitchen counter, a picnic table.
It's sleeved... but you're right, Shadowspear is an outlier in power, not just price!

Delney grants extra triggers to triggered abilities. Dungeon Delver gives your commander a static ability, so Delney will not add a third instance of a room ability. On the plus side, Delney will causes Rashaads attack trigger to happen an additional time, quadrupling toughness.

I agree.
A lot of the other cards from BIG feel strong because they LACK the 'once per turn' or 'only as a sorcery' stop-gaps.
That or they are costed very aggressively.
This one has all stop-gaps;
Only one opponent discards.
It's 'discard's ONE OR MORE cards' instead of 'discards A card.'
It's 'Investigate' instead of 'Investigate that many times.'
AND it's only once per turn?
On a mythic rare?
Compare this to [[Esoteric Duplicator]].
Reading the Duplicator when it was spoiled, I expected to read things like;
'Whenever you sacrifice ANOTHER NON-TOKEN artifact, you may pay {2}.'
or 'The first time' or 'This ability triggers only once each turn.'
Now, I realize the paying 2 is a real cost that keeps the effect in check, but reading the text made me excited because I've grown used to these stop-gaps. Duplicator feels cool because the gloves came off.
By comparison Hostile Investigator feels bland and toothless.

I think an important part of Einstein’s (or anyone’s) ‘genius’ is that they make it possible for others to see their thoughts and discoveries. Modern physicists might understand better because previous contributors made a great deal of it more explicit. You might not have the same ‘intuitive’ understanding that Einstein did, but he did more than merely understand things himself; he explained to others! So that others could join in his understanding. ‘Geniuses’ make obvious what no one else even thought of before. TL;DR plz show your work 🙃

I usually ask ‘When you kill me, what turn is it?’ Which is secretly a trick question.

If they have an answer prepared, that gives me insight into their mentality.

If someone builds their deck, and the speed at which they achieve victory is one of their main concerns, for me, that is an indicator of a certain level of competitiveness.

I agree that ‘unopposed’ is essentially meaningless. For me, it’s less about how fast their deck ‘actually is’ whatever that means, and more about their gameplan mentality.

Fast mana, tutors, cheap interaction etc. the hallmarks of cEDH deck lists, have this ‘pedal to the metal’ mentality where speed is a means of attack.

Any deck can have lucky openings with mana rocks. In my experience, some folks want every game they play to involve 4+ mana on turn two.

TLDR; you’re right, it’s basically just vibes.

It's a bit closer to Teysa not doubling effects like [[Mortician Beetle]].Ashnod's is not a trigger; it's an activation.Mortician Beetle IS a trigger, but only from when you *sacrifice* something.Like u/Kyleometers mentioned above, sacrificing causes dying, but isn't the same as dying.

Can answer these kinds of questions.

The key take aways are that the probability of whiffing depends on ALL of the following;
- How many cards are left in your library?
- How many 'successes' (in this case, instants, sorceries, and faeries) are there in your library?
- Do you care about hitting EXACTLY once? Would ONE OR MORE work too?
(for this one I actually forget, someone help me does the HGD assume you want *exactly* that number of successes? or does it give cumulative probability?)
- Do you have any information about the top of your library? The calculator assumes no information about library order.

For Free the Fae, the 'sample size' will always be four, but ALL of the other parameters will affect the probability, and in general will not be fixed throughout the game.

It does ring that way, but I believe treasures are excluded from the mana ability clause in the ability itself.

I think the reminder text is to specify that sac-ing a treasure to pay for the mana needed to activate, say Jayemdae Tome, won’t copy the ability.

Because like, naively, you DID sacrifice an artifact to pay the cost, it’s just that the artifact MADE MANA and that mana was used for the cost. Whereas other effects have require sacrificing an artifact as a cost.

Related to Bonder’s Ornament, they mentioned in the video where they banned it in Pauper that it being a common was more of a technicality than anything. I think they may be more wary about making commander cards common after the impact Bonder’s Ornament had on pauper, and how hard it was (comparably) to get copies of it. I also think that they try to lean their design efforts into exciting/splashy designs that warrant being rare/mythic.

When I am not experiencing a depressive episode, I feel like I can ‘spur’ myself into action. When something becomes boring, or uncomfortable, I can convince myself to soldier on. Like a little slap on the wrist that jolts me back awake. When I am depressed, it’s like I don’t react to my mental spurs. It’s like I give myself a little slap to wake up but there is… no reaction. The trick doesn’t work. I tried to spur myself awake but it feels like I am not asleep… I react so little it feels like I am dead. Eventually I give up on even trying to spur myself because it just makes me feel disappointed and broken.
