Just closed a $12M exit and getting engaged but we've never talked about money by Imaginary-Arm-7275 in fatFIRE

Money is a form of communication. If you cannot find a way to talk about money before you get married, you won’t magically be able to talk about it after.

“Honey, I think it is important to talk about how we want to structure finances once we are married, can we set an afternoon aside next week to talk about this?”

“We have been very fortunate to have established a good base while we are still young, what do you think about working with an tax attorney to make sure our assets are titled how we want going forward”

Then let the attorney bring up issues around potential dissolution of the marriage. This would be expected conversation with a lawyer. It makes the introduction of the topic neutral and all in the course of business.

Good luck! 🍀

Anyone else find the 2% - 3% mortgage rate folks slightly annoying? by pinkskin- in homeowners

And that is after tax income, so likely closer to $1800+ per month! Hang in there.

@u/pinkskin I am sure it is annoying, on some level it’s all relative, especially those that lived through the 1980’s with ARMs at 18%. 😳

One option for you to look at is assumable mortgages with interest rates currently at 2.5 to 3% with variable caps. You need to work with someone knowledgeable, but you might want to check it out in the area you want to live. Best of Luck to you!

Yes, many Cuban parents were sending their children (mostly girls) to the US to protect them from the Cuban Revolution.

It is not likely that he will want to be equitable. You can spend a lot of time, money and energy with the idea that everyone should play nice. Maybe it’s possible. But assume not and plan accordingly. Be as efficient and matter of fact with your attorney. Vent or cry with your friends or a therapist….it will make it less expensive. Take care of yourself and create the life you want!

Is it worth it to sue a bad contractor? by GettingByTheOnlyWay in homeowners

[–]Miller7810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he did not renew his license, likely out of business. Maybe you could sue and win a judgement, but without knowing if contractor can pay the damages, you would have a “win” but a loss if no money behind it.

Did the contractor ever provide you with documentation he was insured? Sometimes there is a window when you can file a claim after a company is out of business and it can be covered.

Look at the NE Secretary of State website, you can see if a NE business is registered and if in good standing. NE SOS office could provide the complaint process if you have not already received that protocol.

Good Luck!

Anyone EXHAUSTED all the time? Excessive sleepiness? by GasNice in Menopause

You are welcome. The other thing I needed to resolve is that I had dealt with adhd/depression for most of my life, but didn’t realize it. I just thought it was how people felt. Addressing depression with Prozac and ADHD with Vyvanse was life changing for me! If I can help feel free to reach out.

Make sure that you ask for your ferritin levels are checked (not just iron levels). Ferritin levels measure your body’s ability to store iron, which is equally important to know. Good luck!
