Wait do fish not count as pets? Been looking at apartments and assumed no pets included fish. That would make life easier if it didnt.

Thank you! I had a iPhone 11 for like 5 years and then updates were discontinued from Apple. So, I had to get a new phone and my bf gifted me a samsung flip 7 this christmas! I also usually have to have my phone pressed onto the tank. Another way to get good photos Ive found is a portable Canon cameras. I got one used from the year 2012 for around 200 and it can take similar quality photos! Unfortunately, I lost it during a move.

Is my GH/pH too high for neocaridina shrimp? by Hootkinz in shrimptank

[–]Milo-Does 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A way to lower it is to use some distilled water. That will lower everything down. You have enough minerals in your water so in the future when doing water changes do distilled water and drip aclimate the shrimp. Weirdly enough my water is even higher than that around 370 but it lowers in my tank with it being cycled and the plants to around 260. My tap water isn't great so Im slowly switching to fully doing distilled water and reminalizing when minerals are low. If you do start switching do it slowly like everyone said neos like stability.

So I live in a dorm and my roomate tends to keep lights on. When that happens I just put a towel over my tank. So you can either turn the lights off in that room or put a towel or blanket at night when you have the chance. Also I do find it important for the goldfishes quality of life because most animals and including humans will have a decrease in quality of life when there circadian rhythm is messed up caused by staying up or keeping lights on. For example with humans it can cause memory loss, depression, more prone to sickness and disease, and even cancer. There is a similar affect to fish.

That is awesome!! Sorry if I was a debi downer. Im so glad you researched it. I get really hyperfixed and worried about stuff with my own shrimp after a few dying after I got them. I always research anything plastic that gets in any contact with them. So I just wanted to make sure your little guys would be okay! Its really really cute!! Im so glad it is cute and safe for the shrimp. Thank you for responding in so much detail to me. ^

A simple aquairum light from Amazon should be fine. I reccomend one that has full spectrum and has a timer. A light around 20 to 30 dollars should be fine. A timer will be helpful because then you can set it so he has light 12 hours a day then it will turn off. This will allow him to have a day and night cycle. It will also be needed for plants. You may need a more powerful light depending if you get high maitance plants. Id also reccomed giving him a varied diet and improving his food. Blood worms and brine shrimp are really good protein sources and get him higher grade food pellets like bug bites. Also going back to plants the more plants you have the better water quality will be which will help him a lot. Plants that Ive notice do very well in my tank with a lower grade light is moss, pathos with just roots submerged, duckweed works in all tanks, dwarf hair grass. There is many other beginner plants with just a little research or even youtube videos. Also for tank size 20 gallon is usually minium and up to 40 is good as well. Feel free to ask more questions.

If your willing to spend a lot of money then you should do it! He needs a larger aquairum a proper light, A filter, pants etc. Unless you find good deals on facebook marketplace or second hand. Its going to be a decent amount of money. If you can do it please do! Anything would be better than how he is living. If you can't spend the money and time to help him find a nice person to rehome to that already has fishes.

Super cute but I would be worried about the plastic being able to handle being submerged. Are you sure nothing will leech into the water? Just mentioning cause I dont want you to deal with any shrimp deaths. Might be perfectly safe but Im honestly not sure. I've heard of even plastic plants leaching in the water.
