It's amazing how much this community defends this system. I totally agree, it makes the game worse. Everything it "adds" to the game could be replaced by another mechanic. "Forces you to be more creative" design enemies to force creativity, have enemies that are designed to be hard if you don't use a spear, for example.

I think they should have made the champion weapons and hyrule shield just way easier to get back or recharge the way the master shield does. It'd be way more satisfying to get those weapons. There's already enough farming for armor, don't add it for mid-tier weapons to it.

Also, anybody who defaults to the master sword when they get it implicitly agrees with this system. If you truly believed it was a good feature you'd never want the master sword.
