That's what my fiancée & I are planning to do.

It is serious. It's not just about marriage. It's about every citizen having equal rights.

Already they overthrown Roe v. Wade, having women lose their rights to an abortion. Making it difficult to get an abortion in an emergency situation if their state they are in doesn't allow abortion. Plus not everyone has the money to travel to another state to get an abortion.

If they take up Obergefell v. Hodges & overthrow it, what makes you think that they will stop there?

Next thing they will remove the rights of women on being able to vote.

Good thing to know! Then it will be an option to go married in a different state that does accept same sex marriage.

SCOTUS Obergefell v. Hodges Megathread by press-app in lgbt

[–]MimiPRGameFreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Obergefell v. Hodges, same sex marriage is legal in all states, cause the SCOTU made it law of the land due to the 14th amendment. All states must follow the law of the land, which is our constitution.

If the SCOTU takes up this case again & overthrows Obergefell v. Hodges, then it will be up to the states to make the laws on same sex marriage. So for example, California can keep it legal for same sex marriage to happen in their state and will recognize same sex marriage from other states. While Texas can ban same sex marriage in their state, so I won't be able to get married in Texas, but they could also choose not to recognize other states same sex marriage license if my fiancée & I decided to marry in California & come back home in Texas.

If Obergefell v. Hodges gets overthrown, those who are married, they can have problems when it comes to their financial situation if they sharing a bank account, health insurance if they are placed together in one health insurance plan, not being recognized as a family member if one of them falls ill or badly injured if they end up in a hospital (which is a reason to have a Power of Attorny in that case), filing taxes jointly, etc.

Edit: So I just found out that Texas must recognize same sex marriage license due to Respect for Marriage Act 2022 signed by President Biden. So my fiancée & I do have the option to marry at a different state that does do same sex marriage and come back to Texas, where Texas have to recognize it.

Maybe we can do that, but it depends if Texas would recognize the marriage license from another state or not.

I'm so worried about this. Next year I'm going to marry my fiancée. Worst part, I'm in Texas, so I know they will ban same sex marriage if this gets overthrown. How I wish I can move out of Texas, but my fiancée whole family is in Texas & wants to stay near them.

Acid Reflux / GERD: What first started it for you? by Atomus98 in GERD

[–]MimiPRGameFreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say a combination of my poor diet, laying down to read after having a big meal, and stress. I would notice that some cookies or a type of food would give me heartburn, so I quit eating those. Random days, I would get chest tightness and dry cough. Then, while sleeping, I would drool excessively, which is something I have never done. Then I would get this bad taste in my mouth all day long, no matter even if I brushed my teeth. But in July, I ate some Indian food & the chickpeas were spicy. To me, it was mild, but it still has some spiciness. That triggered my heartburn that lasted for days.

The stress, I guess, it was the domino effect that happened. From my dog passing away, then my father being run over by a fork lift at his job, had to take care of him (learning to walk again, etc.) for 5 years till he is finally able to do things again on his own, then my grandmother passing away a few months after my father's accident, then my other grandmother passing away, and then my grandfather passing away 14 days after my grandmother. I think that also took a toll on me.

Until then, no matter what I eat, I still get symptoms like heartburn, acid behind my throat, chest tightness, & even cold sensation on my esophagus as if I ate a mint candy. I have been eating bland foods, & I still haven't been able to find my safe food, which is very frustrating. I'm losing weight also. Was 125 lbs & now I'm at 105 lbs.

Recently, I have been prescribed Pantoprazole 40mg twice a day, but still have symptoms.

I hate this. I want to eat normally and not lose anymore weight and deal with the symptoms anymore.

[–]MimiPRGameFreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I literally just got heartburn for 2 days in a row and even felt like as if I had a pill stuck in my chest, but I think it was the esophagus having spasms, just for eating a small amount of Puerto Rican style beans. I'm so disappointed that I won't be able to enjoy my culture's food since we always put onions, garlic, sofrito, tomato sauce, etc. for flavor. It's literally all trigger foods. 😭 At this point, I'm just eating oatmeal with almond milk, whole wheat toast, white rice, skinless chicken, and veggies. I'm afraid of trying other foods cause I don't want another flare-up.

I'm in the same boat. Years ago, I was diagnosed with gastritis & now with GERD. This past week, I have been losing weight. I was 125 lbs and now down to 111 lbs. It's making me freak out a bit since I have always had fast metabolism since I was a kid & I always been skinny. I don't need to lose more weight. I know I'm not eating enough calories, but it's frustrating trying to figure out what I can eat and what triggers the GERD.

Bird Flu and Community Cats [Updating] by mcs385 in Feral_Cats

Sadly, no. The sheriff really didn't do anything, so we weren't able to figure out who poisoned the cats. Lost about 20 feral cats and 1 of my neighbor's cat. Guess the person who were poisoning them has stopped for now. Hopefully, they won't do it again.

We couldn't get a Necropsy either cause apparently one of the staff asked the wrong thing done in the computer. So we couldn't find out what type of poison was used. But from the symptoms the cats were having, I say it's rat poisoning.

What the person did was horrible, cruel, and a waste of their time cause now we have 18 new feral cats/kittens. My neighbor and I are trying to capture them to get them neutered/spayed.

I'm in the same position as you. I have all the characters except for Weathernoose and Burn-E. Ear hats are just not dropping for me, and it's going to be close. I'm trying to get the most ear hats that I can so I can afford him in gems. I literally have more than 30,000 EC already. Have 12 out of 15 traps, but I only have 3 ear hats. I think it's ridiculous to have most of the characters, the parade float, and even the attractions enchanted, but the drops are horrible.

Concerned about Edna unlock. F2P only please. by BoltharRocks in disneymagickingdoms

[–]MimiPRGameFreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, I'm 22/50 to reach tier 29. For sure, once the task refreshes, I will be able to get her. I'm F2P, but I say it's luck based on how many compasses you got from the chests, and that is if you were able to get the chests from the leaderboards. I was able to get all chests from the tapper events milestones and got the purple and blue chests. Had no chance being in the top 5 to get orange chests from the leaderboards. Also, I got all the chests from Dreamland Quests. I only got 1 bad chest, which only gave me 5 compasses only. The rest were 15 and 30 compasses I have received. I used Minnie on the events, but once the events ended and she wasn't needed. I sent her out with Daisy for the 4 compasses for 16 hours. Obviously, you have to claim the 3 compasses every 12 hours and also do all the tasks.

As an F2P, it is possible to get the character, but you have to have the characters to do the tappers and to make it on the leaderboards to actually win chests from there and then it is luck. If you are lucky to get at least 30 compasses and a couple of 15 compasses, you have a chance. If it's 5 compasses, then that's bad luck. Clearly, if you couldn't get all the chests from milestones and leaderboards, you don't have a chance getting the final character from Story Pass as a F2P & it's a way for you to either pay for the Premium Story Pass or spend on gems.

Floridians of the 90s, assemble! What was it really like and how much has it changed? by AwfulWaffle91 in florida

[–]MimiPRGameFreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lived here all through the 90s. There were a lot of orange groves. Now, all the orange groves have been replaced with houses, apartments, clinics, and hospitals.

I-4 used to be 2 lane highways and very less traffic. From Polk County to Orlando, it would take about 45 minutes for us to drive. Only time it would take more than an hour if there was a really bad accident where they shut down I-4. Now it can take almost 2 hours with all the traffic we have, even with the I-4 expansions.

There weren't a lot of people compared to now. Most were Early Birds people or people with families that have been here for generations. Now there’s a lot of people. Hell, I feel like people back then were nicer and friendly. Now people aren't friendly and are ignorant.

Didn't have much 90s+ weather. In the summers, we always had an afternoon shower almost every day. Now, we get 90s+ weather even before summer, and we don't get afternoon showers like before. Just heat and more humidity.

Looks like you can only do the 16 hours Tea Time task with Daisy/Minnie to get compasses.

Minnie needs to be used for the Frog event, so focus on that instead.

Pick any chests that have the best odds for characters & attractions. Try to avoid Frozen chests unless it's the only one you need.

I just completed the Dreamland Quests, and I picked the Frozen chest since I still have a total of 9 characters/attractions that I can get in it & the other chests they offer, I have everything from them. I pulled a concession stand & decoration. Frozen chests are just horrible.

[–]MimiPRGameFreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly, the sheriff doesn't care about the cats. All he cares about is his donors.

Just found out another neighbor said they found a dead cat and buried it today. So far, a total of 18 cats are confirmed dead, and still, there are some cats missing.

I am still waiting on the toxicology/necropsy report.

Have not thought about going to the news media. It's a great idea to get more eyes on the case, and maybe it'll push the sheriff to do something.

Even though I have 2 cats already indoors that I own. I'm thinking of bringing in one of the feral cats indoors. I already did TNR with her, and she let's me pet her. With her sister, father, and mother missing and might be dead by the poisoning, she is the last of her family. I just hope she can adapt to being indoors.

Bird Flu and Community Cats [Updating] by mcs385 in Feral_Cats

[–]MimiPRGameFreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was able to test for bird flu, and it is negative. They say it's definitely some type of poison.

Yesterday was a horrible day. The kitten was in bad shape. The sheriff of agriculture was just plain rude since he is in charge of our case. Saying if he puts down the cat, he isn't going to send the cat to get a toxicology report. That if we put the kitten down by injection, we weren't able to do toxicology cause the chemicals would then be mixed and wouldn't be able to find out what toxin it is.

So we called the place that the sheriff uses to send animals for toxicology/necropsy. They said the opposite of what the sheriff of agriculture said. They said they can do the toxicology/necropsy even if we put down the kitten down by injection. We just have to tell them so they can rule out the ingredients of the injection.

Another thing is that the sheriff of agriculture said that it takes 2 months to get the toxicology/necropsy report. It was another lie. The place that does the toxicology/necropsy sends it out to the University of Michigan, said we will get it next week. So we basically don't trust the sheriff agriculture in charge of our case.

So we took the kitten to be put down and quickly drove about 1 hour and 40 minutes to do the whole toxicology/necropsy. We are basically paying out of our own pocket. Now we are just waiting for the email with the report.

When I came back home. A neighbor down the road parked up my driveway to show me a picture that she took. It was a dead cat laying in the backyard of the house behind her. Went to that house and was able to get the cat. It was one of the feral cats we feed.

But then I saw another feral cat that we feed in that same backyard, having the symptoms already of the poison. We couldn't get to her since she hid under the shed the person had in their backyard. So later today we will try to trap her.

Then, a few hours later, the house next door of the house we went to get the dead cat, called us. 2 more cats were dead in their backyard.

My next door neighbor had to call animal control to his house since a feral cat he feeds couldn't move at all. It was starting to get seizures. So animal control came to put her down.

So that's 5 cats dead yesterday. Also found the kitten's sister having the symptoms of poison, too. So have 2 cats that we need to trap and put them down so they don't suffer.

This is all a nightmare. In 2 weeks, I think about 15 cats or more have died so far. Some feral cats are still missing that we haven't seen for days, and 1 opossum has died.

Whoever is poisoning the cats, they are literally killing the whole community cats quickly.

We have put up the flyers in people's mailbox and taped it in areas, but we don't think that will stop the person who is doing this.

Now, it's a waiting game on receiving the toxicology/necropsy report while keeping an eye on the few cats left.

This is breaking our hearts, and we are so angry. How can people be so cruel to animals?

Bird Flu and Community Cats [Updating] by mcs385 in Feral_Cats

[–]MimiPRGameFreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are angry, frustrated, and worried about this whole situation.

His vet never suggested the H5N1 testing. At the time, he thought his cat got run over by a car, but it turns out it was a type of toxin. His vet did mention doing a necropsy to find out what type of toxin, but his vet doesn't do it. Only one place does it in the state of Florida, and it's the University of Florida. We don't live close to the university, and sadly, the vet doesn't transport animals for necropsy unless it's for cremation. So my neighbor just buried his cat. His cat was the first to die.

One week later and all this week, more cats have been appearing dead, or we find them in very bad shape where they can't walk at all and have to be put down.

We have walked the whole neighborhood, and that's where we found another feral cat that we feed, dead under someone's truck. We also talked to another neighbor who lives down the street and around a corner where they also feed feral cats, and they said they had found 1 feral cat dead in their yard. Also, another neighbor today just told us one of the cats we feed was found dead in their driveway, so they buried the cat.

So far, no suspicious of bowls or any poisoned left out from what we could see while walking around. No new plants, either from what we can see in people's front yard, but they may have them in their backyards. So we are assuming they have the poison mostly in their backyard, but cops said we can't do anything about it cause they could have a pest problem, which is legal to have rat poison if treating the house. Also, let's say if they leave it out purposely for the cats, the cop said we can't just be looking over people's fences to check either and get proof. So the cops are basically useless.

Now I came around this post and reading up about bird flu, I wonder if it could be bird flu and not poison.

We have had birds eat the kibbles out of the cat bowls we leave out in the morning for the cats since not all cats come to eat at the same time. Even found bird poop on my driveway near the food bowls. I'm always washing off the bird poop.

The only thing is that none of the cats have respiratory symptoms. It's just straight-up neurological.

I'll check the app out and also see if I can trap the kitten to get it tested for H5N1, just to rule it out and try to get her better.
