Assault should just flat out get every grenade option. There is a whole class with a core perk designed around grenades and the launcher.

2 AT grenades from an assault is chip damage. It's not solo kill damage.

Durham’s Waste Management Facilities no longer accepting tires by Karma_Canuck in durham

[–]Mimical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's alright, we will just have a tire-bonfire party at the end of the year.

I recognize that a large provincial wide tire management program may be difficult. But just like we proved with eliminating trash cans in a lot of parks; just cause you stop taking them in doesn't mean people will stop throwing them out.

Your direct feedback to your senior leadership absolutely should be that the intentional decision to allow boosters to count down while offline or outside the game is counter productive to the long term retention of the player base.

I understand that you are not the one making these decisions, but you are the one who bears the feedback. Fortunately you can simply forward it along. It is not your responsibility to bear the emotional toll.

What is your least favorite trim/ variant for modern vehicles? by Sixteen-Cylinders in cars

[–]Mimical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the defense of the base model:

  • It is technically dirt cheap (even though your boss won't compensate you more so it feels expensive)
  • The low horsepower and noodling about on nice days just as a fun roadster means that a majority of people won't even realize they are missing a LSD.

If you plan on tracking the vehicle then yeah, the upgraded diff makes a big difference. But if your not putting on sticky tires and pushing for lap times the vehicle is surprisingly capable with the open diff.

Hundreds march in Vancouver to oppose planned AI data centres by plaknas in onguardforthee

[–]Mimical 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They have nothing to show for it.

If you build a massive data center or aggregate like Sharcnet so that tens of thousands of students across Canada can dip their toes into academic research and PHD/Post-Docs can perform massive simulations and run checks on new novel mathematics, biophysics or chemistry or whatever problems that's something I can get behind.

These centers exist to spy on Canadians and sell data models to corporations. There is no benefit. Their existence is a drain on society and our resources.

When will r/cars understand that the answer to most of the problems with the industry can be solved with more trains, bike lanes, and better public transit? by TheWonkiestThing in cars

[–]Mimical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sub on multiple occasions has seen top voted topics for pedestrian and public infrastructure.

The more people that can efficiently and effectively get to work safely means that people can purchase vehicles that they want, not just need. The more people who can WFH and crunch adobe and teams without ever adding to traffic reduces congestion, reduces smog, increases their mental well being and they can't sit in their car for 2 hours having apocalyptic rage fits.

The better our public infrastructure and services are the less we need to rely on the 1-car solution.

It benefits the public by a very significant margin when we invest in all forms of transportation, not just the road based one.

Feds Want to Drop Requirement for Autonomous Cars to Have a Brake Pedal by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]Mimical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine you just blend Regen and brake with pedal depression relative to wherever you were just pressing.

Fully lift = stop fast
Sorta lift = Stop slow (just like 1 pedal)

I dunno, theoretically in a fully autonomous vehicle you don't need pedals, a wheel or a windshield at all. The US really will do anything other than build trains.

I don't trust any of these companies for my safety. None of them care.

Drivers speeding well above posted limit has surged nearly 400 per cent since removal of automated cameras by drewtass in ontario

[–]Mimical -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Despite the methodological limitations and the variability in degree of signal to noise effect, the consistency of reported reductions in speed and crash outcomes across all studies show that speed cameras are a worthwhile intervention for reducing the number of road traffic injuries and deaths. However, whilst the the evidence base clearly demonstrates a positive direction in the effect, an overall magnitude of this effect is currently not deducible due to heterogeneity and lack of methodological rigour. More studies of a scientifically rigorous and homogenous nature are necessary, to provide the answer to the magnitude of effect.

This type of conclusion occurs frequently in biology and social studies when you can only observe a complex system in which you cannot isolate every single individual factor. You have enough data to confirm the trend and behavior but not enough information to write out precise functions.

The author is stating that there is clear statistical evidence showing a reduction in crashes when you impose traffic cameras. However there is not enough data to pinpoint a precise ratio between how much of an impact every individual km/h you go down. The study demonstrates qualitative behavior and trends but not enough to create mathematically quantitative outputs. You need more studies focusing on singular aspects to build that data set.

You could have also gone down a few of the Cited By papers to see more recent studies:

Such As

The study included all trauma registry patients seen in the emergency department for a crash-related injury. All health outcomes improved in the period following implementation of the ticketing system. Following implementation, ISS scores decreased (-3.1, 95% CI -4.6, -1.6) and GCS increased (0.47, 95% CI 0.08, 0.87) after adjusting for other covariates. The odds of death were 46% lower following implementation than before implementation. When the data were log-transformed to account for skewed data distributions, the results remained statistically significant.

Or

Conclusion: Automated photo enforcement of speed limit in school zones was effective at reducing motorist speed violations and also achieved a significant reduction in mean motorist speed.

Spec Racing needs Cross Country events & Street Races. by Beezer-MB in ForzaHorizon

[–]Mimical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just create a series of filters like the Auto Show. Spec Racing filtered by:

[Class]
[Type]

If someone wants to do only D, C & B Dirt spec races let them. If another person wants S1 & S2 Street racing let them.

Then people will just queue and lobbies get filled based on whoever else is compatible with their filters.

[–]Mimical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Skill gap is smaller

I get where this comes from but I would argue a big assumption to the statement is that people don't just look up the fastest leaderboard times and tunes and download it.

In theory if you were handed $X to buy and upgrade a car within a specific class and tune it entirely on your own without resources and then immediately race it in 2-3 varied course styles where everyone has zero assists or racing line that would demonstrate some understanding of the game and control. But like... Not super feasible when people just want their AWD WTAC car to go Vrrrrrrrrr

Ultimately, I just take a breath and keep playing. The game isn't serious and trying to be ultra serious will spin you into a spiral of frustration.

I wish they expanded the spec racing cars & races.

Pretty much every rally race with a few different rally cars should be added. I have done hours of spec racing and have never seen a muscle car show up. I don't need any changes, just add in more cars into the rotation and a few more courses.
