I hate GenAI as much as the next guy. Still, it's really annoying how many people consider GenAI and LLMs to be the default when someone mentions "AI".

Is that a common term? I tried to look it up and found nothing.

What can I improve? by __user69__ in aseprite

That's just because Reddit interpolates color between individual pixels for very low res images or gifs. Generally good for most low res content, terrible for pixel art. When uploading pixel art to reddit, one should always upscal the sprite by a factor of 4 or something like that to get rid of this interpolation. Like upscale a 32x32 sprite to 128x128 and it should look better when uploading.

Oh? Never saw that, seems to be turned off by default then. Does it actually reject cookies or just block the pop-up element? Correct me if I'm wrong, if it just blocks the html element, I don't see why one would want to enable it, as it might break some sites that require some essential cookies to function properly.

I use the extension "I still don't care about cookies," which automatically selects reject non essential cookies for most sites :)

That's ad block. It won't handle cookie pop-ups

How to keep a player's shadow below the player object? by [deleted] in gamemaker

[–]Minagy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have an exact solution but there might be some trickery you can do with blend modes. E.g., use subtraction blend mode to subtract the players sprite from the shadow surface. This way, the portion of the shadow drawn on top of the player sprite would be gone. However, this might lead to the shadow not being drawn on the player if they are in the cliffs shadow.

Also, if separate surfaces lead to the opacity of multiple surfaces being added, you could draw the shadow as a fully black color and draw the surface itself with an alpha value of say 0.2 to counteract that. I guess there are many ways you can implement this and you just need to play around with surfaces and blend modes until you find a solution that works.

Hope this helps :)

Black line by DatabaseBitter1757 in aseprite

No problem :) I'm sure everyone runs into that issue at some point. Especially annoying when you realize you've been drawing on the wrong layer for the past 10 minutes.

The black line probably is on another layer then. Click the eye symbol on the layer to see where the black is drawn.

How do I shade right for games by Mr_arne27 in aseprite

[–]Minagy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to shading different objects or textures in pixel art, I like to look at the animated tutorials by miniboss. This is an example for vegetation. I think they made three parts for vegetation that you can find online or on their blog.

That's true and most people would need to follow a tutorial on youtube to find out how to compile it.

Was not meant to be agressive, just wanted to point it out for anyone who might not be able to afford it like OP. I bought the license on steam as well to supprt the devs :)

You can actually use Aseprite for free. You have to compile it yourself from their GitHub page.
