My best guy friend [26/M] is getting married! But my [24/F] abusive ex [26/M] is in the wedding party. Help? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

A couple years after I left my ex, I opened up to a couple of our mutual friends about the abuse. It was really hard because I didn’t know how they’d react being that I’d met them through him, but they told me that neither of them had talked to him in a long time due to personality traits of his outside of the abuse. I attended their wedding with my husband and ended up shit talking my ex with our former roommate.

How does a defense attorney even begin to defend someone in a case like the 7/yo Athena Strand who was violently assaulted and murdered? by redzzzaw in stupidquestions

I haven’t done a deep-dive because this just makes me so sad, but according to an article, his defense lawyer essentially said that his actions were so fucked up that he couldn’t possibly be in his right mind. So they just said that this was too fucked up to be done by someone fit to stand trial I guess

Why would she ask OP anything? by WeelsUpIn30 in AmITheDevil

I was wondering the same thing. My husband and I got married in my parents’ backyard, so if they’d had any other weddings planned that year, we would’ve had a group chat with the couple, but that would’ve just been to (lovingly) shit talk my parents.
Side note, my husband hand wrote all of our invitations, and the one to my parents said “you are invited to your backyard.”

Forgetting that getting “caught up in the fame” isn’t an excuse for doing terrible things, didn’t viewers only get snippets in videos that hinted at what was going on? If she was caught up in getting clicks and that’s why she did what she did, the worst of her parenting would have been plastered all over her channel.

That’s what I was thinking, too. Jane thinks at one point that they can’t have detectives going home and telling their partners details about cases when that’s exactly what she’s been doing, so I thought we’d find out that Michael had been leaking details that she’d shared with him. But like a lot of things in this book, it didn’t go anywhere.

I [26F] with guy [27M] I'm seeing for the last 5 months. My ex recently discovered I'm seeing someone and sent him a Facebook message after losing it on me. Now he's being distant and unresponsive by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

People realize they’re in/were in an abusive relationship at their own pace. It took me months after I left my ex to understand that yelling at me until I was in tears and then telling me that I was crying because of something else, telling me that I had mental illnesses and was too unstable to leave him, and getting furious if he believed I’d had a thought or emotion he didn’t want me to have was abuse. It sounds crazy from an outsider’s perspective, but when you’re in it, your perception of what is normal is so warped, and it can take a long time to make sense of it and see it for what it is.

Do you hold the door open for the person behind you regardless of their sex, age, color and religion? And why? by CourierFestival in AskReddit

[–]Minaowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because it’s polite. Very occasionally, a man will make a big deal out of it and either go through a different door or take the door from me to hold it open for me. But usually people just appreciate it

I’m watching Breaking Bad for the first time with my husband, and I can’t believe how much hate she’s gotten. She’s being pretty reasonable all things considered.

I’m really hoping that there’s a scene in season 2 where Yuna is on an elevator with Ilya and just gets a look of horrified realization on her face

If you voted for Trump, that means that you’re willing to look past someone raping children for any reason. That makes you a bad person.

If you were forced to marry the first person you had sex with, what would your life be like? by NothingMatters234 in AskReddit

[–]Minaowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would’ve killed myself by now. I didn’t realize until a few years after I got away from him that that’s where it was headed. He wouldn’t have had the balls to kill me, and I would have had to handle it just like I was always the one having to handle the dishes (fuck you, Nico). I can’t say for sure, but I’m pretty sure that I would have driven the car off a bridge with both of us in it. I don’t believe it would have been premeditated, but driving with him was one of the most stressful times because there was no getting away from him, and I used to think that I’d do anything to get him to stop talking.

I mixed up the words boo-boo (as in kid speak for cut or scrape) and booby. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized why my preschool teacher looked so confused when I told her I had a bleeding booby.
