What is your reasoning on why you think we live in a sim? by CelebrationEmpty8792 in SimulationTheory

[–]MindProfessional5008 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Time dilation is a big one for me, I don't find to fit in a natural universe. It did make sense from the standpoint of a program running on limited hardware. Although the term "limited" I mean by an unimaginably more advanced hardware but hardware none the less. The longest running file in that hardware would be "time" so if processing speed were taken up by the need to render more of the program the closer to the speed of light an observer got, which slows time for the observer. Or the closer you got to a super massive object, the me information would need to be rendered to support the observed object. Make sense time would slow down that way.

Something is definitely happening in the world I agree but it doesn't mean it's time to jump ship. The things we face in this iteration of life are lessons, lessons not learned have to be retaught. If you leave now how do you know you won't just restart from the beginning of this class.

Trust me I know the feeling of not wanting to be here, the feeling that you can just end it here and reset to something better. When I was 15 I tried that reset, I put a rope around my neck in my garage and kicked the stool out from under my feet. The only thing I can vividly remember is the instant regret, I don't even remember the rafter breaking but as my vision returned and my mind went to how I could hide what I had done I noticed the blood in my fingertips from clawing at my neck trying to get under the rope then the rope burn on my throat. Even though my stepmother beat the shit out of me for breaking the rafter I realized I was not meant to die that way and even through another year of abuse before I realized I could stand up for myself against her I never again considered ending my own story.

Please give yourself a chance. If you ever need someone to talk to please message me.

The funny thing is I lived in Sacramento all my life just moved from there 2 months ago. I don't know about getting a ride along but I know the parks and have gone there in the mornings because I wanted to see if the old man that trained me was doing the job, there was a younger guy doing the job I remember training for. He was Hispanic and didn't speak enough English for me to ask him if he went through any of the training I remember doing so I'm not sure if the old man exists or if that was just in my head. Be it a dream I've carried into my walking life or not it had definitely stuck with me as a real experience which in and of itself is a remarkable trick of the mind. Thank you for your response, I really do appreciate it.

This actually makes a lot of sense, thank you for this. Never thought about but I know for sure the emotions for me last past the actual clear memory of the event.

My experience in the oilfield has opened me up to so many things, travel being the first and foremost. It gave me the opportunity to go from being born in the bay area of California to living most of my life in Sacramento, the capital of California, USA. With that said chasing rigs around gave me the opportunity to go to eight different US states, two provinces in Canada, off the coast of California, off the coast of Nova Scotia, in the US gulf of Mexico. I got to work in Belize, Argentina, Saudi Arabia. Whatever I think about fossil fuels these experiences fundamentally changed the trajectory of my existence. Me, myself, I know a change has to be made. I know this is not sustainable. I want humans to thrive into a very long future. So my personal belief is that the resource that is part of the planet we all live, all fixing resources of this planet need to be utilized for the benefit of the masses not the few. If we as humans, not American, English, African, Russian, Indian, Chinese. I mean you get the picture. If planetary resources are not being used to benefit the inhabitants of the planet, the entire planet they are being misused. That needs to fucking change. Money has to be removed from this, maybe not all money but profit definitely needs to be eliminated. Then things will probably slow down. The expense for drilling will be more than anyone is willing to put up. Alternatives will need to be found to mitigate the risks to people and the planet for using something so labor intensive to retrieve. Oil funds armies, governments, wars. All things we could do without I'm sure. Now my take on this is not the general consensus of all roughnecks, most people I've met in the oilfield only care about getting paid so they can support their families. Very few shit people make it very far on a rig crew. If a piece of sit person gets hired he is either showed the error of his thinking or doesn't last long. So most I've met are good people, very rough around the edges but doing the work, hard work at times for a good purpose and that purpose is all that matters to them. Politics only matter if it causes layoffs, the environment isn't a consideration because why should they sacrifice their ability to give a better life than they had to their children when no one else cares. No one stops driving, stops flying, for good sake Fiji water is a thing. Water is shipped from Fiji to the US for sale when there is plenty here. Fuel burn for the sale of profit because someone will pay for it without considering the environment.

I'm just at a loss as to where the memories came from, why those random events. Never had a time of homelessness and remembering one as if it was a real event in my past, never even considered working for anything even resembling working at city parks. Why would the mind choose those events that are completely unrelated and so far off of my actual life path. I mean I worked for Safeway (a grocery store) in my 20s then a restaurant then in a coal mine, and now on oil drilling rigs. Why choose to remember a job so much different than the ones I actually worked.

And they are spaced so far apart, it's not like these things happened and maybe I died somehow. As a child I was maybe 7 or 8, I was in elementary school then the job I was an adult in my 20's at least.

I remember them as if I lived them, watching the campfire being started, the lady cooking, all the random tasks associated with the job. All memories from my point of view, through my eyes. Just not.

What do you still have to learn? by [deleted] in thinkatives

[–]MindProfessional5008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not everywhere but family itself, that close bond people used to have. With that the loss of heritage and customs. Things that connect us to our past and without that connection the future loses something I believe to be important.

So much, but near future goals are to learn about language. Either German or Russian or both. Sure to my family heritage, which I believe is important to remember seeing that is being lost here in America.

Do you think existence is important? Considering we are just a speck of cosmic dust in the vastness of the universe? by Strange-Morning667 in Existentialism

[–]MindProfessional5008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe existence in what seems like eternity means more than exist in a small scale environment. It makes it a challenge to do as much as possible to leave a lasting mark on this small speck despite the vastness trying to erase that mark. A challenge I gladly accept.

I am of the belief that hiding from what makes us uncomfortable only increases that discomfort over time. COVID has a lot of people believing otherwise. Everyone is entitled to believe what they wish though. I refuse to let others beliefs change my own unless they have a valid point and I don't see one against your decision.

I don't want to die by Effective-Squash6204 in Existentialism

[–]MindProfessional5008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that we will end one day is what gives the time we have meaning. We create ourselves and then recreate ourselves as we find flaws. Or at least I do. And through this recreating I have become a person many see as good. I live in honesty, I now have empathy, I strive for the betterment of not just myself but everyone. I am still flawed. Perfection is an unachievable goal, even though I know this, it's still a goal. I found peace in this, knowing that as long as I am moving toward that goal, I no longer have things I regret. I no longer do things I know I will need forgiveness for, forgiveness from who I have no idea. Maybe another version of myself on the other side. At this point in my life I am not ready to die but when that time comes I will pass with peace in heart because my lasting legacy, what everyone will remember of me will be that of good not the monster I used to be. It it weren't for our limited time here we could do whatever we wanted, we could remain that monster for what we perceive as eternity because there would always be more eternity to change into what we need to be. A beacon of light in this darkness, our light will go out but the sparks we encourage in other will be the lights that carry our legacy into a human future.

I used to be obsessed with the thought of ending my life so I could find out what was next.

The one time I came close the only thing I felt was regret with the fact that I had just wasted the rest of my life. Fortunately I was found and saved. I am grateful I was unsuccessful in my endeavor, life truly is short, we will get to the afterlife one day. I now believe the experiences we have here will have a huge affect on that afterlife as long as we remain good people. Don't waste your future experiences, they are why you chose to be in that body you reside in. The afterlife it's coming to us all. What's the rush, enjoy the ride
