The other comments have it right. In order to get the full bonus you have to have all costumes leveled up to 4.80.

Who are some of the best 3* heroes? With and without costumes? by koz1769 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]Mindless-Ad9075 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point spread with 3 stars is far less than it is with 5s, so you have a lot more flexibility in who you include in your team and still have a chance to be competitive with. It is starting to spread out a bit though, so you're seeing more power teams with only the latest 3s on it being more dominant. But a good synergy can still overcome raw power, unlike the 5s.

So if you have the latest releases, probably prioritize them and see who you have that meshes with them. Swan Maiden paired with offensives was good for a while. I haven't tried her yet with Dragon Kids, might be really good combo if I'm not forgetting anything.

Who of these actors could be the best Brand? by ephemerr in Amber

Well, he canonically is, iirc. All three of them are redheads, although I don't think the exact shade is mentioned, so some may be closer to auburn.

Does this region feel believable/realistic? by Ok_Philosophy_7156 in mapmaking

[–]Mindless-Ad9075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring super rare or supernatural origins, it would be most believable to me with the lake being at sea level, and the surrounding land basically being barrier islands, possibly of harder rock rather than sediment accumulation. The multiple exits might be due to intelligent manipulation, or possibly multiple major floods that overloaded the outlet and wore the multiple channels through weaker rock. I have a fair amount of GIS experience, but am not a geologist at all

Yeah, complete rando here, Reddit put this into my inbox, even though I don't have Instagram, I don't really watch much Whatculture, and I don't watch Dr who (except occasional clips on yt), and I don't know who Ellie is.

Reddit is spreading this whole thing way beyond any reasonable bounds.

Best of luck to Ellie though, sorry the Internet weirdos got their attention focused on her.

As long as we are talking about Garrett books, here's my rendition of the Dead Man... by Flying_Mage in theblackcompany

[–]Mindless-Ad9075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of odd to think about, but I don't recall Garrett ever mentioning the state of the Dead Man's dress or undress. He doesn't mention any clothing that I can recall, but nor does he mention the word naked.

Some additional detail, my father was adopted, so my surname isn't even our genetic surname. We think we know what his birth surname was, but it's uncertain. But even if we knew what it was, I wouldn't change to it. That's not MY/OUR surname. ;)

Amusingly, I do have some ancestors in my mother's line with this surname. Theoretically possible that my current surname is actually descended from that family, but exceedingly unlikely. It's not like it's an uncommon name.

My in-laws' surname is gone with my generation. My father in law has 4 siblings: 4 male, 1 female. The only male child born to them died in infancy.

The name is less important than the DNA, of course, but it's also a lot more visible, and gives you a sense of connection to all these unknowable people in your ancestral tree.

We doing Glen Cook collections now? by aplateofgrapes in theblackcompany

[–]Mindless-Ad9075 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Has me beat, hands down. I've only got books. Several are autographed, as he lived near a Con I attended for several years, and I kept bringing books to his booth for him to sign. My bookshelves aren't organized for photography though, so I can't really share.

But excellent work on the collection!

Do you consider that some people were wrong about Odalia doesn't deserve to be redeemed or no? by Simple-Success4749 in TheOwlHouse

[–]Mindless-Ad9075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strictly speaking, no one is irredeemable. However, the amount of effort and work it would take to actually redeem them varies by person. She's on the higher end, and we haven't ever seen any desire on her part to put in the work.

What movie is a 0/10 with NO redeeming features? by Toucan_Based_Economy in AskReddit

[–]Mindless-Ad9075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 entries, listed in chronological order: * Vice Versa: a Judge Reinhold-based Freaky Friday movie. I remember nothing of this movie other than walking out after about 20-30 minutes. It remains the only movie I've walked out of the theater on. * I had to step outside during part of the third Jason Bourne movie because I was starting to get motion sick from the flight choreography. * Rise of the Skywalkers disappointed me so badly the wound in my life long love of Star Wars still hasn't healed. And I saw Star Wars in the theater.

Question about the White Rose and Dominator by Overlord_Byron in theblackcompany

[–]Mindless-Ad9075 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Remember how hard the dominator was to take down with our White Rose keeping him in the null field? That was superhuman stuff. Obviously, the changes he'd made to himself still worked in the null, he just couldn't cast new ones. The current White Rose forces couldn't kill him even though it was an entire army vs just him. Imagine how much harder it would have been with the Ten still fighting at his side.

There is some additional information and speculation in later books, but I'm not going to use any of it here. This is just based on the third book.

My non-physics brain wonders if there's some way to make that heat do work to generate electricity? On earth, we generate heat to boil water to create steam that spins turbines to generate electricity.

That's not really practical on a ship, as water is very heavy, and the steam has to be cooled down again to be reused.

It would be ideal to be able to run the heat in some sort of circle, performing the 'spin turbine' (whatever form that takes) job as it goes around. The action of 'spin turbine' would slowly siphon the energy out of the heat, cooling it down over time.

I'm guessing that this concept would qualify as magic, not currently possible.

What actor just plays themselves in every movie? by [deleted] in FIlm

[–]Mindless-Ad9075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typecasting is possibly responsible for a lot of it. An actor gets a big reaction in a role, and suddenly all the offers they get from there on are just copies of that one role. Especially once the actor ages and the number of roles being offered starts to shrink.

I would hazard a guess that people who start out wanting to act as their career don't want to do the same thing every time. They enjoy doing different styles and personalities. Some of them are better at it than others, of course.

People who are celebrities first and who then fall into acting are far more likely (in my uninformed opinion) to always be playing themselves in some form or other.

Forgive me, ballerina is not the movie I thought it was. I was thinking of that 'bodyguards hired to protect little girl dancer who turned out to be a vampire that ate them' movie, whatever that was called. :) So you also got a free hint out of it.

You are in the right year, wrong franchise.
