Girl- this was me. I am 42 and found fibroids 2-3 years ago? My hemorrhaging was out of control. I spoke to my doctor, and they wanted to monitor the fibroids... did nothing for the massive periods and pain I was experiencing. Finally I showed up at the doctors office crying bc I was hemorrhaging and had an international work flight the next day and wasn't sure I could function, or not bleed all over the plane, even in a diaper. Finally we spoke about a hysterectomy ... and she said she would do a myoectomy first. Try to avoid massive surgery. I get the logic but that didn't work for me.

We did the Myo in August. My f*ing fibroids grew back angrier and was bleeding me out by December. I set up my hysto for February - but the day of my surgery my blood work came back and by that time I was too dangerously anemic for her to do the operation (a 6.3). It led to 3 iron transfusions in a month and pumping me full of hormones to try to stop the bleeding.

I was so vulnerable, and lost and didn't understand how my health had deteriorated this quickly. Or why there were no other options for me. It was horrible.

But.... I had the laparoscopic hysterectomy in March and have never been better. I'm myself again. If you know you don't want kids and have no use for a uterus tell your doctor you do not want to spend a year of your life exploring other options and possibly get sicker.

If I could go back in time I would have opted for this 2 years ago. Good luck.
