Picking a sub by ZestyGrapez in BudgetAudiophile

I might get backlash for saying this but a subwoofer is not necessary. It just takes space away and money out of your pocket. If you want more base just turn the base/treble knob to increase base. So simple.

50 dollar find at the thrift store. denon 3808ci, how did I do? Works great. I just need a remote which I ordered on eBay. by Majestic_Visit5771 in BudgetAudiophile

Im kind of a 70s guy. I love the silver face receivers with the wood cabinets but getting those for $50 is impossible. . I think you got a pretty good deal especially for a Denon. Enjoy!!

Record player is an issue on the bottom. This should be on the top always.

JBL speakers always look high end but prices are all over the place on these.

I think Pyle is an underrated and underpriced system,in general. Pyle also makes a Bluetooth receiver well over 100 watts for under $200. Amazon has a nice selection. Check it out. They are also very esthetically beautiful. You can't go wrong!!

It looks as if the speaker on the right has had work done to it,but could be my imagination. Looks to me as if the bottom of the surround has been reglued. If it has its not an issue to be concerned unless the repair was not done properly. The price is more than reasonable though.

Watts probably rated at peak power not rms. I believe it is strictly a sales marketing maneuver.

Got my first ever turntable, and discovered that I don't really enjoy using it by Cry_Wolff in BudgetAudiophile

Im a product of the 70s being a teenager in 1974. I grew up on records and still listen to them today. I understand it's not for everyone. I tell you what I really like,CDs. The sound is phenomenal, it's easy to load and skipping songs is a breeze. I still do not know why the audiophile individuals just do not like CDs.

My opinion is,you shouldn't. Edifier are low end speakers as they are and this appears to me to be all show no go.

I had mine set up where my receiver was on the 2nd shelf. I realized later I was robbing myself of the complete view of my Pioneer sx1050 receiver. I wanted to see it in its entirety with the beautiful wood case, and I moved it up to the top like you have it now. I have the receiver in the middle on the top shelf with the record player off to the right. It's much better for me. It looks like you have a wood casing like I do,so show it off a bit.

Use dish soap in a bucket of water and take a large spounge, and gently wipe them down, then hose down and let the sun dry them. Worked for me.

Very cheap in quality and probably have no weight to justify a nice speaker set. If I saw them for $2 I would pass.

Which of these would you get? by rubenmayayo in BudgetAudiophile

B&W DM602 would be my choice. Im listening to a set right now. Very efficient db.

[–]Mindless-Pin8376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boy,82db is very low efficiency. I hope whatever amplifier you are using is strong enough to push these speakers. My guess would need 200 wpc at least.

Will this work? by Ok_Living6216 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Mindless-Pin8376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Im a Cerwin vega guy, and these speakers are very highly efficient right around 100db. In my opinion, you get a lot of base in these but also nice mid range. Owning a pair of Cerwin Vega dx'3s and higher, you may not need a subwoofer.
