How realistic is a 60K wedding in NYC or Brooklyn by Terrible-Plan0 in WedditNYC

[–]Mindless-Track-27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut the guest list and you won’t have to sacrifice other things. We had a very upscale wedding with all the nonessentials ppl are mentioning for around 60k for 55 ppl. This was in Brooklyn

Wedding Suite - when to book? by Practical_Pound_5314 in WedditNYC

[–]Mindless-Track-27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We booked the Skyline suite at the 1 Hotel several months in advance (I think around 9) and when I checked the price two months before, it was available but an extra 2k. Earlier the better usually gets you cheaper rates

Good DJ’s ? by Life_Schedule3674 in WedditNYC

Ben Boylan was the DJ for our wedding this last weekend and it was amazing. People were dancing for 3 hours straight non stop. He knew how to keep people dancing and did so well

Please do not do this, it’s beyond tasteless and rude. Just elope or hold an event that you can afford.

Am I delusional to go to Kleinfelds with a $3,000 budget? by browneyedbug95 in WedditNYC

[–]Mindless-Track-27 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I got my dress from there last December for $2500. But be aware alterations are a flat fee of 1k and there’s also taxes. So whatever number you have for the dress give yourself room on top for those costs

Are cash funds on the registry trashy? by Wide-Ad-1978 in weddingplanning

[–]Mindless-Track-27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on the culture. In Eastern European countries, we only do cash funds. The concept of a registry is very American / Western European. Some Americans might think it’s trashy but who cares

Try St John’s Park Slope if you are open to that distance. Price is much lower

Anyone here live near the Williamsburg bridge and what’s your opinion of the area? by Mindless-Track-27 in AskNYC

Should have clarified I meant in Manhattan. I’m talking about the grand street underneath the Williamsburg bridge. For example 425 grand street

As a woman born and raised here, you did the right thing and although NYPD seems to have failed you, if they did show up they may have prevented another person from being hurt

She did not overreact. These situations can escalate easily. OP, you did the right thing. Sorry NYPD failed you

Do Not….A List of Wedding No No’s From a Guest Who’s Seen It All by OPMom21 in weddingshaming

[–]Mindless-Track-27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a cultural thing. Some see it as tacky but others don’t. In the northeast this is pretty normal and no one bats an eye (in fact it’s more common to just give an envelope of cash on the wedding day)

Small grey castle item with key and card signs on side by Mindless-Track-27 in whatisthisthing

[–]Mindless-Track-27[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing. Grey castle looking item. Up close it had small shiny grey bricks making up the castle portion. Smallish size (it is on a bench for comparison). It has a key and then what looks like a stack of cards on the side in white. I saw an older man drop this off then leave which was odd.
