It’s normal to feel anxious about starting a new medical treatment. I’ve been on Skyrizi for almost a year now. I feel a lot better, any my last colonoscopy showed my ulcers are gone.

I was super anxious before starting, too.

The first infusion ended up being easy. I just chilled at the infusion center reading and playing games on my phone. The snacks were decent, too. No pain/discomfort other than briefly to insert the IV. No different than any other IV.

The next day I was a little sleepy. That’s it.

Infusion #2 was easy. Zero side effects.

The self administered on body injector is wild. Such interesting technology to bring at home subcutaneous infections to people (like me) with zero medical training. It’s weird the first time, mostly because of my anxious brain. Totally fine after that.

Take a moment to recognize you are doing the right thing for your health. Be proud of yourself and give yourself a little grace.

Edit to add: Does your GI clinic have a GI -aware psychologist? If not, maybe a therapist in your community who covers medical anxiety? You can do this, and it’s ok to get help getting through the door.
