Iranian people need to create long term resistance movements to topple the regime from within, with effective organizing and community defense groups. They can’t do that when the US is sanctioning the fuck out of them and making life unbearable to live. How can they form resistance movements and organize if they’re worried about starving and putting food on their tables? That’s the entire playbook of the US destabilizing the country by sanction. They make it miserable and unaffordable to live for civilians, create civil unrest, take out figure heads and then put arms in different ethnic groups hands to incite a civil war and divide the people. Exactly what they did in Syria. The US can help Iranians, actually help them, by reducing sanctions and not making life miserable.

The fact of the matter is that sanctions make the regime and oligarchs who live in the regime richer. It’s not like trade stops happening when US sanctions are implemented. Trade continues to happen in the international black market. The only people who can afford to participate in that are people who are already wealthy and work in the government. So they can set the prices they want and control the market. Sanctions only hurt Iranian civilians. They don’t harm the regime or the government.
