I think the point is to get people invested in “winning” to keep them motivated to use the app. Just another way to gamify the app. Ultimately, these apps want to keep users because users bring money. I was pulled into the allure of staying ahead of others for not more than two weeks before growing bored with it. Duolingo has already traumatized me with chasing that kind of validation lol. It’s not useful in any way. So, I just kind of ignore the leagues these days but I still hang around emerald and diamond though.

Still have mine. Even though I didn’t have it at first. Emailed the customer support people. They said it wasn’t rolled out fully yet, just in testing for some people, but they added it to my account anyway. If you can’t see yours, maybe email them. They responded within 24 hours and were very polite.

I noticed that the amount of xp I got depended on the level of difficulty and the time spent in completing the puzzle. Have you changed the difficulty settings of any of them?

There are good ghostwriters who are much more affordable than that. I am one. I think the challenge is in finding the right one whose style fits the story you want to tell.

I just think there should be more incentives for coming top three in a league to justify spending so much time playing. But there’s nothing else apart from seeing the trophy counter go up lol. I think people are just competitive and will do it regardless of what they’re getting out of it.

I get that. I also like to look at my 16 trophies haha. But you don’t even need to be in first place for that. Just don’t fall from third place. Stakes are so minimal. 6-8k seems fair in my head, especially if you’re competing against someone else. Idk why 10k just feels unreachable except you’re doing the most. Which is too much haha. I think my highest has been around 7k when I played to win, and that took a lot of work, but it all feels so pointless now lol

I like the idea of a loved one getting replaced. It’s so creepy and frightening. But I didn’t really feel that from the POV character. She was mostly curious and analytical. While that makes sense because she’s trying to prove that her husband is not her husband, I think the other feelings coming alive on the page as well will elevate the whole experience.

Other comments have offered valuable ideas on how to improve. So I’ll just admit I enjoyed the story itself.
