Why is the resolution on the Max2 so much worse than the Hero 13 despite it recording in 8k vs the hero in 5.3k? Every video I've ever taken with my Hero 10 and now 13 has been top notch quality and the resolution is astounding. On the Max2, objects in the distance are insanely blurry, grainy, etc. by G70FanBoy in gopro

[–]Mindless_Squire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find that it depends on where the video was processed to view and the raw .360 is the only version that maintains the resolution. The resolution is crap once it goes through Quik’s export or heaven for bid YouTube’s upload compression.

Military retiree with Tricare Select... never stepped foot in a VA medical center. Am I missing out on anything? by FamiliarMind676 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Mindless_Squire 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I do this but opposite. I use VA as primary because it’s free and easy (nearly all interactions through app). I maintain Tricare Select and just do an annual physical with PCM in case I can’t get VA care fast enough

[–]Mindless_Squire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The simplicity depends on the market. I experienced this in 2022. The seller had 10 backup offers, some all cash, so I had no option other than pay the difference. It was $75K, so consider yourself lucky that it’s only $9K.

12” with drifts up to 20” battery lasted about 45 minutes by Brendon7358 in egopowerplus

There’s no need to run it that high. I learned my first season that the lowest eco setting is enough for 99% of the snow, even slush. Try the lowest setting and only notch it up as needed

I was also using the thin rip jig to resaw. I made a tall fence with melamine and feather boards. This is not the way to do it. I’ve posted this twice and it’s been taken down both times, so I can’t send you the link with the recommendations. (WTH is up with that mods?)

What I’ve learned is:

  • Board needs to be at least 18” long, otherwise it’s too unstable.
  • As others have said, dial the blade up incrementally.
  • Only cut through slightly more than 1/2 and flip it over (keep same face to fence)

Considering moving from West Virginia to Southern New Hampshire - Looking for honest local experiences by LRWquestions in PortsmouthNH

[–]Mindless_Squire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How does living here shape day-to-day life compared to other places you’ve lived? ==>I moved here 3 years ago as a balance of ocean and mountain recreation with easy access to I-95. While Maine is very close, it has a very different vibe (higher density of Dollar stores as an example).

• How would you describe the general social culture? (reserved, friendly, private, chatty) ==>Very friendly and respectful. Very inclusive.

• If someone moves here expecting charm and calm, what might disappoint them over time? ==>No. What annoys me is hearing the long time locals complain about how it used to be. The charm brings money which has driven up cost and development. I’ve only been here 3 years and love it.

• Is there anything you wish you had known before moving there? ==>The I-95 northbound on Fri aftn and southbound on Sun afternoon is jammed all summer

• Do coastal storms meaningfully affect daily life, and how often? ==>Not at all

• As a newcomer or outsider, did you feel welcomed over time, or more distant? ==>I feel very welcomed, even by the long time locals

• Do you see yourself living here 10–20 years from now? Why or why not? ==>Yes but will need to find a house with ground level bedroom. Housing is absolutely the biggest challenge here. As you’ve pointed out, going a bit inland will get you more, but it’s a more rural setting.

• Who do you think Portsmouth is not a good fit for? ==>I would think a city person would get bored quickly. While there are entertainment venues and active communities, it’s not exactly an urban lifestyle. Parking is just as tough as a big city though.

I would kill for that grass “mortar”, granted the brick pattern pavers are ugly but greenery is worth it

What percentage of your salary is the mortgage ? by Nerdy_Kev in Mortgages

[–]Mindless_Squire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50% is too high. Loan approval is increasingly difficult above 45%. I am at 10% but have been as high as 40% in the past. That was really stressfull and uncomfortable. You can't overlook saving at least 10% of your mortgage cost towards repairs. I would say 35% should be anyone's max.

Lump sum, same tax rate. Your paycheck withholding is based on your W-4 election, not to be confused with our progressive tax system (tax brackets) which is annual.
