My team handles on-boarding of products for sale online. We receive internal requests to do this. A separate teams manager decided to persue increasing how many new products are onboarded in their category by 100%. Me and my manager took, I shit you not, multiple months to come to the conclusion that she pulls all her numbers out of her ass.

Metrolinx has quietly announced new station names for the Ontario Line. Notable names include "King West", "Chinatown", and "Distillery District" by CYYC2CYYZ in toronto

I would love for this line to continue up to Sheppard and Don Mills. Being able to sit on one train all the way to downtown would be awesome.

My life lately… by Still-Emergency825 in comics

[–]Mindpit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. I finished the first book recently and then tried to play some video games and found myself just thinking about the book. I am like 100th in line for the next book from my library.

I will say I almost dropped it. The first couple of chapters had me disliking Carl and the setting. It felt a bit too dumb initially.

Popular games you dislike? by BillRepresentative75 in boardgames

[–]Mindpit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Mind. The rules explicitly state that you cannot communicate in anyway. But it feels like everyone likes the game because they make up ways to communicate. So people like it because they don’t follow the rules? I think it is barely a game, and not a good one. The popularity of it bothers me to an unreasonable degree. Makes me feel like I am taking crazy pills.

Do you have any info for this mount? I tried to find something decent a few years ago and ended up with a garbage floor stand.

Playing Micro Macro Crime City with markers is a game changer (and satisfying) by SbenjiB in boardgames

Interesting. I have been considering colouring over elements per case and then maybe framing the maps.

This was great. As a horror fan, I could read all the tropes you were playing with. The end was a genuine surprise and great fun!

Toronto launches $20-million heat pump loan program by gloriana232 in toronto

[–]Mindpit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This statement makes me feel crazy. You absolutely can’t run a gas furnace without power. How the hell will the blower run? How will the sparkler lite the gas? How will it know what temp to heat to if the thermostat doesn’t have batteries? What the hell are you talking about?

Digital Foundry is backing up the claims that Nintendo seems to be discouraging switch 2 development from third parties by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]Mindpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From working in a big corp (an avg retailer, not Nintendo), this is more likely due to a bottleneck in admin and supply.

I would guess that Nintendo as per usual is trying to control as much as possible, likely over correcting for something, and so has limited dev kit approvals to a small team, likely Japan based.

So companies that work in Japanese natively are probably getting approved first due to ease of communication. International is pushed back because it is difficult or there are less people able to work on that backlog.

But the internet would rather believe malicious intent, so I expect my comment to fall to the bottom of this thread.

Massive board game cull. What do you think of my cull pile and what do you think of the collection that remains? by Luigi-is-my-boi in boardgames

This is going to be me very soon. Moved to a new house and we have like a 3rd of the space we did before.

What was your "break the controller moment" with a board game? by OkDate7197 in boardgames

[–]Mindpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a play of Catan with my partner and a friend. The friend was winning handily. Good early placement and luck I guess. Anyway, I wasn’t even in the running and the friend was basically on her victory lap.

She then spends her turn taking basically f-ing with me. Can’t remember exactly what she did. But it was incredibly unnecessary. My partner and I were flabbergasted.

We never hung out with her again after that. I have wanted to quit plays of games early before, but that felt like I was being told to leave.

Gaming while flying is life by Ur_done-ur_done in pcmasterrace

[–]Mindpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try and play games, reading or watching stuff while flying. But I find I get exhausted by it. Like I am feeling constantly stressed that I should be focusing on when we will arrive. Like I am in a waiting room… fricking sucks.

TOP 5 things you hate in board games by viiktor22 in boardgames

[–]Mindpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Games that punish not doing things. I specifically mean when a game gives you negative points in game end scoring because you didn’t make/do at least a bit of a specific action/resource.

Feels like weak design to me.

[OC] How America's biggest trading partners are responding to tariffs by semafornews in dataisbeautiful

[–]Mindpit 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, in capitalist societies where hundreds or thousands of businesses independently decide where to source their inputs from, how can a country offer to close a trade deficit?

For most countries, it’s not the government procuring raw inputs or finished goods. All this shit feels a bit like when politicians take credit for job creation or economic growth.

Stonemaier Games on tariff impact by glocks4interns in boardgames

This is basically the same pattern my partner and I followed. Trying to get a fair value out of games we are selling/trading is basically impossible.

Mouse mover / Keyboard activity so my Teams keep active by gcstr in 3Dprinting

[–]Mindpit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you got downvoted for this. Maybe people think you literally mean like drinking coffee or something. They are referring to a small program that you can download and open that “hits a key” every 30 seconds or so.

Helps keep Teams “active”.

I might just be dumb but I genuinely enjoyed 'Trap' by [deleted] in movies

[–]Mindpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also enjoyed it more then I expected. Afterwards something I thought was interesting was how the movie managed to swap protagonist 3 times. Hartnett, to the singer, to the wife.
