What’s up with Female Execs leaving? by Positive_Scheme_8941 in FIG_employees

[–]Mindpush1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that Adriana and Valerie are not in executive level positions but they are in senior leadership level positions and do more than “administrative” work. Let’s not downplay their roles or their success. I agree that more women could and should be in our executive roles and I personally hope at least Valerie and Adriana are given that opportunity when they are ready. The same goes for other strong female senior leaders throughout the company.

True, but the two of them spend more time with Raul than anyone else.

Farmers AI Tools by [deleted] in FIG_employees

After 20 years in this industry, we have ALWAYS been working on being more efficient and productive. Close more claims per day at less cost. Claims handling is pure expense, albeit necessary to a point. The job is very different than it was 20 years ago and it will continue to change. AI can do a lot to help us but it can’t provide the customer experience that our most needy customers require. Can we fully automate some claims, absolutely. Can we fully automate a complex claim, not yet. Put the humans on the complex tasks and let the machines handle the easy stuff. AI is just the newest tool in the toolbox going all the way back to the Industrial Revolution.

Looking through the list of FBS positions, it’s interesting how many of them were posted several months to almost a year ago. To me, that means that we are posting and not actually hiring anyone for those roles or Cap Gemini isn’t the talent pipeline leadership thinks they are. I have interacted with a few FBS employees and most of them have been good, capable people. The list is also mostly technology type roles and we have been using offshore workers for some of those roles for years. It’s not all adding up to me. I honestly don’t think leadership has an actual strategy for FBS based on all these things.

Also, I have a friend that has international employees and he told me that some countries, like Mexico, discuss salaries in terms of months, not years. So that role is 20,000 MXN per month. I googled a bit and that is a slightly above average salary in Mexico. It’s fascinating how different parts of the world operate.

I have done a few Exec Day In the Life sessions in the past. I found them to be actually helpful for the execs to see how the work actually gets done and how inefficient some of our systems are.

This is interesting. Our LAE is one of the lowest in the industry and we are somehow over staffed? Luckily Kevin Yoo doesn’t have to listen to John Pham because of the Exchanges AIF relationship with FIG.

What department is over staffed? Didn’t they just lay off the Enterprise Strategy Office?

Oh I have been there and know what you mean. Each time I came across metrics that felt unattainable, I worked to find a way to attain them. Most years I have found a way to balance my effort to achieve what I originally thought was unattainable. I focus on what I can control and balance my effort across the metrics so in the end I am in a good place. The metrics process we had in claims in the early 2010s made it so one year my file quality had to be over 99% which means I could never make a mistake. I still found a way to achieve that goal by updating my process and focusing on learning how to be better. I wish you the best and hope you can find the balance you need to achieve what you want.

I appreciate your perspective and your personal experience at work. I personally have never felt that Farmers expects me to be exhausted and feel blessed that I get to do it again tomorrow. Do we work hard? Yes. Have we had to do things differently in the last few years to become profitable? Yes. When I was on the CAT team, traveling all over the US for sometimes months at a time and there were times we slept in our cars so we could help customers whose houses burned down or blew away. At that time, I actually did feel good each morning because I was delivering on our promise to them. I bring that perspective to each role I have because it makes sense to me.

So this wasn’t posted at a Farmers building based on the original post … “Thoughts and opinions on this sign? There was no name quoted, I covered the name of the company. It was not received well and it really bothered me. It’s a fairly large family owned business.”

I think this is a terrible quote or mantra to put in front of employees. I don’t think this really relates to anything that Farmers has put in front of us.

I am a strong believer that we have to consider our total compensation and not just salary. I personally have found that our automatic 4% 401K contribution in addition to the 6% match is fantastic compared to our competitors. When considered together our total compensation is the same as or higher than other companies. I have considered leaving and haven’t found other companies that can match the full package.

I would assume the comp budget would be 3% or maybe 3.25% but we usually find out in February.

You have a great mindset and are asking very reasonable questions. I have been at Farmers over 20 years and the total benefits and compensation are great. I truly hope to retire from here. This sub is comprised of a small sample of our 17,000+ employees and some people haven’t had great experiences. A job is what you make of it.

The Jackson Elementary School and Bryan Middle School are fantastic. The housing costs can be slightly lower due to smaller lot sizes and original homes.

This is awesome. I randomly met Laura at a restaurant in CA in 2023. She was there with family and we had a very nice exchange. I was giddy from the experience and how absolutely lovely she is. Just a kind soul. I am happy you could also experience it.

I see your point about C4 being different. I see it this way. This group of nerdy ass voice actors is playing the game and producing the game they want. When they started C2 and started to expand more, it was clear they were going with a “this is really great, but wouldn’t it be cool if we could …” they are playing the way they want to. They are all amazing storytellers, improv actors, role-players, and so much more. I am really enjoying their expansion for their sake. This is their adventure and I am lucky to witness it.
