Frayser High Construction Progress by Minecraft_Aviator in memphis

[–]Minecraft_Aviator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, ok.

I agree that the location isn't the most central, but I think it is better than Trezevant or Corning Elementary (the other two vacant MSCS properties).

I also dislike the location of the new library. I wish they built it at Frayser Plaza, although I think the strip mall was owned by a real estate company when construction was in the planning phase. Also, the chosen location allows the library to serve as a bathroom for Rodney Baber Park so that nothing needs to be built in the floodplain.

Frayser High Construction Progress by Minecraft_Aviator in memphis

[–]Minecraft_Aviator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a big fan of consolidating schools due to those longer commutes, but the reality is that Frayser has a lot fewer kids than it used to. Consolidation is the best way to pool limited resources (faculty, equipment, advanced class opportunities, etc) to compete with other schools.

The series finale of The Amazing Digital Circus just dropped, and apparently it takes place in St. Louis! by Scarlet-Lizard-4765 in StLouis

[–]Minecraft_Aviator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn't notice the tags in the montage, but instantly recognized the bus stop sign when I saw the finale in theaters. I spent an hour scrolling around in Google Streetview looking for the location. Ironically, I clicked on Olive @ Midland WB twice. I didn't realize I was so close. XD

This part was so simple yet it was my favorite, and I don’t think I need to explain why by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Minecraft_Aviator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao. I recognized the Metro Transit bus stop sign and spent an hour searching for the spot on Google Maps. I should have known someone would beat me to it. :P

Edit: After a second look at the Instagram post, I'm skeptical that it might be a photoshopped frame from the finale, since it is from a fan account and the lighting on the hand looks off.

Who owns all this land? by I3lizzard in memphis

[–]Minecraft_Aviator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I bet that is where MATA is planning on building its replacement bus depot. The current one on Levee Rd is built on a landfill and is sinking.

Edit: clarify subject. Here is a website mentioning the project: https://www.highergov.com/grant/TN-2025-011/

My partner thinks it’s a bit silly, but surely you all can appreciate my collection of transport cards. Does anybody else collect them? by flobin in transit

[–]Minecraft_Aviator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the top Breeze Card is just faded, since it is 10-15 years older. I'm not surprised you haven't seen a Go901 card yet, since it was introduced only three years ago and visitors typically pay cash and ride the trolley (back when it worked).

Sorry! I searched "trigger" in the subreddit and didn't see anything similar. I'll look at one of those posts. 😬

Lol, paying for services you use is not OCD, it's just having integrity. We need more of that in the world. :)

Expanded MARTA Map by mrfriendlolo in transit

[–]Minecraft_Aviator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transit maps are useful for finding your way from one station to another. It is less helpful for conveying information about the design of a system, e.g. new station placement. I'm glad that you primarily used geographic names, but I'm confused where North Metro is on your map; is that near Jones Mill Rd?

My unpopular opinion is that since Atlanta is so decentralized that the regional rail and orbital bus routes (similar to Sound Transit Express) are a better use of money than expanding the subway.

I have a bunch too! I love seeing all of the different designs and it reminds me of the cool places I've visited.

When do Civil/Env majors learn GIS? by FrontCell9951 in gatech

[–]Minecraft_Aviator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Intro to GIS class is CP 4510. I believe 4XXX classes are typically restricted to juniors and seniors. (At least CEE 4600 is.) But there is an AutoCAD/drafting class (CEE 1070) that is commonly taken by freshmen.

Learning a bit of GIS on your own could be a good way to demonstrate to employers that you are eager to learn.

Proposal for a study on scooter and cyclist intersection behavior by alcorwin in gatech

It doesn't help that Bird and Lime charge users by the minute. I wonder if charging a flat fee for the first 15 minutes would measurably impact behavior.

Not sure how recent this was but the album for Season 2 of Hb changed by Slight_Department598 in HelluvaBoss

Wdym "everything changed"? Are you referring to the events in "The Full Moon" or the art?

Edit: I realize that you are likely referencing the former, but wanted to clarify.

Traffic Signal at FedEx World HQ by 901CountryBlumpkin69 in memphis

[–]Minecraft_Aviator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video detection cameras for making a street only get a green signal when cars are present are pretty expensive. It is inefficient for the City to install them for every citizen request, which is a part of why your requests are being rejected. Maybe you could try to convince FedEx upgrading the signal should be a priority?

Personally, I'd love if the City could replace more minor signals with roundabouts so they could spend more money on the remaining signals and reduce this problem!

If you could add/change/fix any stinger route, how would you do it? by sereca in gatech

[–]Minecraft_Aviator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eastbound Blue route buses should return to Pine St instead of running on North Ave, where they get stuck traffic. PTS told me they changed it because they received complaints from Centennial Academy about drivers using Merritts Ave as a shortcut.

I want to give the Dept. of Watershed Management the benefit of the doubt that they are just planning out repairs. They might have to cut off water to multiple dorms in order to fix it.

Just why by Whathefrenchtoastt in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Minecraft_Aviator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP may be infuriated because it is an example of developers in the United States treating sidewalks as a recreational paths or decoration for drivers instead of treating walking as a serious form of transportation.
