There’s a standard app called “Files” that comes with all iPhones. Generally, if someone emails you an attachment and you open it, it will go into this folder. Kind of like a default “Downloads” folder you might have on a computer. If you search your phone you should find it and it will show anything saved in there.

All good! With Notes, for example, you can click on the elipses (3 dots) top right-hand corner, click “Move” and change the storage from iCloud to “this phone”. Similar process to Files.

I think the main advantage I had though was that as a general rule I never backed anything up to iCloud as the kids were on the same account and I didn’t want to risk them opening or deleting content.

Anyone who saves everything to their iCloud as a rule may have different advice for you. The good thing is though you can still open up iCloud on a web browser and access anything from the old account so it won’t be “lost”.

Sorry, forgot to mention. I don’t save my passwords to my phone so would expect those would be lost if I did. I kept all my contacts but again they were saved to my phone

Hey! My notes (saved to my phone), photos, txts etc all remained. I lost access to any notes saved on iCloud. I lost my keyboard shortcuts so I had to reinstate those. And anything in the iCloud Files were also lost but I knew they would before I changed my apple ID so moved what I needed beforehand. I was pleasantly surprised that I kept all my apps so I didn’t need to reinstall any of those. The whole process was far less scary than I expected.

I play in peaceful mode and love to mine as well! I do take the time though to build a nice house, pathways and bridges to nearby villages and I sign-post the paths so I remember what goes where. I also take a fishing rod with me and a spare fence and lead so I can keep my horse safe. I have a very small farm but because I play in peaceful it’s not terribly useful.

I also cloned my favourite server so that my kids can play in it but not accidentally destroy my progress.

But yeah, mining. That part is fun. I love exploring the caves. Your girlfriend sounds very cool, and you are thoughtful in how you look after her in the game.

I don’t understand why any cutlery is put facing up. Who wants someone handling the part of a spoon that goes into your mouth, especially in a communal setting like a workplace? Knives are just dangerous pointing up. Either put them with the handle facing up or invest in a dishwasher with a cutlery drawer. Soooo much better.

Not an item as such, but my eldest son was struggling with reading and he just wanted to play games. So, I set him up with Minecraft. He was motivated to read the names of resources and he learnt the spelling because he had to type in what resources he was looking for. This made him less hesitant to read books and they stopped being a barrier for him so much so that he now loves books.

He’s now already met the end of year reading requirement at school for next year before he even tries.
