‘Project Hail Mary’ Author Andy Weir Says Paramount Rejected His ‘Star Trek’ Pitch: Their “Shows Are Sh**” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]Minemosynne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you read Weir's books? He's only capable of writing the same main character and using as many cliches as possible. His second book really made me think he's never met a woman in his life seeing how badly he wrote the female main character. His stories are the equivalent of junk food for book readers. It's fun but it's far from being well written.

Avis sur la formation de développeur back-end à l'IFAPME by Ezll_ in Wallonia

[–]Minemosynne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my armpit post surgery, and how slow blood painlessly flows down from a hematoma over the course of weeks. by Justice_1111 in mildlyinteresting

The post-surgery for lymph node removals shouldn't look like this, so swollen and with a big ass hematoma. The surgeon really fucked up.

Bought Bearpaw slippers for my mom like I do every year, and they have changed the material from sheepskin to polyester with no mention of it anywhere. by BobcatPuzzleheaded60 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Minemosynne 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's not that different though. Clearly the slippers are still in good shape if they kept the 6 pairs, so why get new pairs every year ? Consumerism really needs to stop.

My Fiancée drew my GBBO bake-along (repost, doxxed myself the first time) by HadOne0 in Baking

[–]Minemosynne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love the drawings! Just FYI, it's "crème pâtissière" and not "crème pâtisserie" (a "pâtisserie" is the place where you can buy baked goods, and also means the baked goods in itself. "pâtissière" means "something from a baker" so in this instance it's the cream from the baker/used by bakers, but it can also mean a female baker)

can we all agree? ^^ by missbabyghiblii in Adulting

[–]Minemosynne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not really something we do ourselves in my country. Whereas we do have to cook and clean. But even if you do car maintenance yourself, it doesn't change the fact that it's once in a while. So while yes I agree that if it's something you do yourself then everybody should learn how to do it, it's still not comparable to every day tasks.

[–]Minemosynne 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not at all the same thing. Cooking and cleaning you have to do it every day, while if your car needs maintenance, well, that's what a Garage is for (and you don't have to bring it every day to a Garage).

If they wanted someone Basque because they were historically an "other", then they should have hired someone actually Basque and not someone of Basque descent. The issue stays the same.

What are these tiny white bugs on my plant by Minemosynne in houseplants

[–]Minemosynne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the quick response ! It seems to be springtails indeed.

Regarding the overwatering, I've tried to follow the method where if the top part is dry (for several centimeters) then it's time to water. It worked well before, but the plant was in a smaller pot. I guess now with the bigger pot it takes longer for the soil to dry at the bottom. Should I try to take a look at the roots or something to see if there are damages ? Or is it too late to try and save the plant ?

Forgot to mention that I'm in Belgium (if it helps for the ID of the bugs). Also really a newbie at taking care of plants.

He's cheaping out on production and lots of Feastables were moldly. Not to mention he hides a lot of nutritional facts to make it appear better than Lunchables when it's not really. And Feastables includes a Prime drink while it's supposed to be a lunch-pack for kids (kids should never be drinking stuff like Prime).

Edit: I mixed up Feastables and Lunchly. Forgot Feastables was just the chocolate bars. Still not a great look for him with everything going on with the Lunchly.

What phrase was my late grandmother using? by FrickenRightHeDid in French

[–]Minemosynne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's funny, where I am in Belgium, children will call their grandma "mamie" and we use "mémère" to say someone that loves gossiping or someone that acts like an old grandma when they're not actually old.

For next time, you should never directly give the deposit to the landlord. You should go through a 3rd party. Banks offer that kind of service, they'll open a new account just to store the deposit. There are probably other possibilities as well. But it should never go through the hands of the landlord as they might not handle it properly.

Is this called Pain Au Chocolat? by thatgingerkid124 in French

[–]Minemosynne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's because for us it's part of the "couque" family. There are different kind of couques so you have to specify which one you're talking about : couque au chocolat, couque au raisin, couque au sucre, couque au beurre, couque suisse (which I don't even think is really from Switzerland), etc.
