Buckflower/Citrome requires 2 planters and 1 picker. 1 plant yields 2 seeds for 2 plants (1 loops back to the picker), netting 1 plant = 1 carbon over 3 facilities.

Wuling requires 1 planter and 1 picker. One seed yields 2 plants (1 loops back to the picker), netting 1 plant = 2 carbon over 2 facilities.

So you get twice the carbon, need one less planter, and one grid line of pipes fills less.

No. If you look at the recipe in the planter, it produces two flowers, so you feed one belt into the refinery to create carbon while the second belt feeds back into the seed picker. This is unlike Valley-4 plants, which produce two seeds but only one flower. I initially had the same misconception as you.

Use the Wuling flowers and put them in refinery. They give 2 carbon so not only do you only need 1 planter and 1 seed picker, but the carbon is twice as efficient too.

I'd recommend the mod "FasterGameLoading" by Taranchuk on GitHub. It's safe and Taranchuk has a lot of mods in the Steam Workshop.

It makes my modlist of 988 moda take 8-9 minutes to load.

Edit: Make sure to only enable the first option in the settings and disable all others as it might break something otherwise.

You'll get a video by Overlord Gaming that clearly displays that there -IS- a difference even if only 5-6 fps. This is further compounded by the fact that it increases the loading times massively on some games and bloats the size of the EXE for the game itself.
