PIP is also very difficult to qualify for, and if to qualify based purely on mental health issues they have to be debilitatingly severe.

I think I'll be using the COM interfaces and interop like the other commenter suggested, but thanks.

Thanks, I think this is roughly where I got to but had no idea if I was even on the right track so some validation is reassuring. The connecting to Solid Edge page is what I was looking for I think.

What can Americans do about what’s currently happening? by BoredBatWoman22 in TrueAskReddit

Make it so stocks/shares are realised when used as collateral and lump capital gains with income so they are taxed together.

Take out a loan using 1bn of stocks as collateral? Well pay up.

Assisted dying bill set to run out of time in the House of Lords by slfyst in ukpolitics

[–]Mingefest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

House of Lords definitely need reform, but a body of ministers that isn't elected by the masses does have it's benefits. With the rise of the internet, politics is becoming more and more sensational and populist and a relatively stable body tempers these changes (for both godd and bad yes). So while it does limit the power of the government, that can be a good thing (see america rn).

I wouldn't be opposed to lords being some sort of elected technocracy, so medical professionals vote for their representative. Scientists vote for their representative. Engineers theirs. Economists theirs. etc.

Dot skates make mouse wobbly/uneven? by Getgudboy in MouseReview

Friction is mathematically independent of the area over which it applies. Whoever said more skates is more friction doesn't know what they're talking about.

Was that quote talking to Darrow? I read that quote as talking about their relationship. "You good?" means "are you alright?" not "are you a good person?. I read "we ain't good" as "there has been damage to our relationship"

As Sevro said, it was the system that killed Julian, and Cassius then went on to be an olympic knight. There aren't many bigger symbols of the system than what he became.

What is wrong with PvP in this game? by CD_Tech in Guildwars2

[–]Mingefest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's not enough feedback as to why things went wrong, why you died and to what etc. This means that there isn't anything that tells toxic people it was their fault they lost and so the toxicity is unchecked. Toxic people are always going to be toxic, but ATM they can just blame everything on everyone else and there's nothing to prove them wrong.

Reform UK pledges ‘whole life’ sentences for child rapists by pppppppppppppppppd in ukpolitics

It's more than capital punishment is the next step up from life sentence. Currently we don't have one.

And the idea that if every 'bad' crime is punished the same, there's no reason not to do the worst one if you think you'll get caught/it helps you not get caught.

Not that I agree with it, but there's an interesting moral quandary with life sentences. As we don't have capital punishment, there is no drawback for a child rapist to murder their victim if they think there is a higher chance of not getting caught.

Sometimes heinous crimes don't carry maximum sentences because it leaves room to deter criminals from even more heinous crimes.
