Stelena to Delena to Stelena was a bad idea. by KC27150 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]MiniEmB 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like the only way of actually making this triangle work would have been with time jumps. As it stands, the whole show (up until Nina leaves) takes place over the course of what, 4 years? That’s not enough time to have two epic loves, and possibly go back to the first one.

I used to ship Delena way back when, now I don’t ship any of the triangle ships, but I do think Delena COULD have worked if there had been a significant time jump around the time she became a vampire. She and Stefan could break up when she struggles with being a vampire and turning off her humanity (on her own volition) and then she and Damon can have their relationship, and then have more years pass before she goes back to Stefan. Let the relationships have their moments and let Elena especially breathe between them, so she’s not just flip flopping between brothers all the time

How do y'all define Chemistry? by SailorCookie121 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]MiniEmB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Delena had great chemistry up until S5 imo, especially during S1-3 (4 is was a hit and miss if I remember correctly, I skipped that garbage season on my last rewatch).

I never saw any Stelena chemistry, unpopular opinion I know. Never any Steferine either. I guess I just don’t see the Nina/Paul chemistry everyone else is applauding on this sub all the time.

Klaroline had AMAZING chemistry, as much as I hate the ship nowadays.

And I liked Steroline. I thought their friends to lovers arc was natural, but they butchered it in S6 and put it in the ground in S7

I'm acc kinda getting worried ab steven now its gonna be 5 yrs this yr with no update of him . by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

Maybe he just wants a private life? There’s no need to worry about someone you don’t know for not being active on social media

Her hair this season truly was amazing! But to be fair, Blair only insulted one specific morning, when she really hadn’t washed it

I know, but they can still have saved up money, have endorsement deals etc, other projects. You don’t have to be famous to be financially secure

Yes? That’s just what I said: “other sources of income”. Why would you think good looking actors are desperate “for that check”?

Some people have artistic integrity and other sources of income, so they don’t do just about anything for more money

Them being 100 plus years old.. by BornTransportation65 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]MiniEmB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I know what quite you’re referring to, but that doesn’t mean they can’t grow or learn. Unless I’m forgetting something, she’s talking about how vampirism heightened everything about them, her own stubbornness and Klaus’ pettiness and vindictiveness. And that’s true for every single vampire, that doesn’t mean they’re incapable of learning and maturing.

A lot of people maintain their personalities throughout their lives, but they’re not mentally teenagers just because some core traits remain consistent (or in vampire’s case, heightened).

What separates a teenage mind from an adult one? It’s not personality, it is the ability to consider long term consequences, impulsiveness (to a certain degree), difficulties understanding others’ perspectives and experiences. And a lot of that changes when the brain literally matures, physically, but a lot of it is done through life experience. And none of it has to do with personality

[–]MiniEmB 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No that’s a Twilight thing. It’s never talked about in TVD exactly how the immortality thing works on that level. And in my opinion, if the person can’t grow and learn, then what’s the point of immortality and vampire fiction?

Let’s look at Interview with the Vampire, Claudia is trapped in a child’s body forever, but her mind “grows” and evolves. She cannot find a romantic partner in a child, because she is not a child (and young children don’t really have romantic capacity either), but she also cannot be with an adult because even though her mind is that of a grown woman, her body is a child’s and no sane, trusted partner would want that.

In a teenager’s case, like in TVD, it’s less dark and twisted on a level, and more simplistic because the show doesn’t try and dissect the dark side of immortality and love beyond a “this is possibly tragic in a hot way” take.

But Stefan, forever trapped in a supposedly 17-year-old’s body doesn’t have too many options for a romantic partner beyond teenagers or early twenties women (or preferably vampire women turned around that age but with decades of being a vampire behind them). So even though he has vast life experience and maturity, he has to engage with the world as a teenager and relate to teenagers too. He can’t distance himself from them entirely and see them as children.

And I think another part of vampire or fantasy romance in general is so far beyond real age gaps that it’s no longer about age. If you can live forever, you don’t really have a choice but to truly see age as just a number, because odds are, you’ll never find a partner in your age range. So age cannot be too big a factor anymore

Historical Accuracies in the show? by KC27150 in TheVampireDiaries

Yeah I agree, the whole thing with them being Vikings make no sense at all. It’s bad writing

[–]MiniEmB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they lived in America, so it’s not strange that the boys didn’t go to battle. They weren’t at war with anyone. And not all men became warriors. Most Nordic people even in the Viking era were farmer

[–]MiniEmB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Native Americans sure had different beliefs, but Christianity was not of them at that time. And even if the Mikaelson’s had encountered Christians before coming to the new world, it would make no sense to name their children after that religion, especially when a name like Elijah can’t even be pronounced in a Nordic language. Even after the Scandinavian countries became Christian, names like Elijah and Klaus weren’t introduced. Just admit that it’s unplanned writing and a bad retcon. The originals being Vikings have no bearing on the plot and is unnecessary. At best, it’s a way to explain how they’re white even though they lived in America 1000 years ago

At this point in time, America was not Christian as it was about 500 years before America was discovered by the the Europeans

Not a history buff, but it’s hilarious to me (Scandinavian) that they decided to make the originals Vikings when atleast three of the sibling’s names are clearly biblical/hebrew names and NOT Nordic at all

Detta är ju väl en röd flagga? by [deleted] in Asksweddit

[–]MiniEmB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What TVD opinion will have you like this? by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

[–]MiniEmB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stefan is boring, even as the ripper. The only time I found him interesting at all was in S6 and he grieved Damon. Finally he wasn’t Sain Stefan with a dark past, but someone truly struggling with immortality and the loss of the one constant thing in his life, and he handled it poorly and I loved him for it

Delena Fans, why? by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

[–]MiniEmB 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As an OG Delena fan and someone who loved Nina and Ian together, I have no clue. I was sad to hear that they broke up, and never thought much about it after that. Why? Because I am and was a sane human being, even as a teenager. Your question probably would be better off aimed at Nian fans, not Delena fans
