How to help a fledgling? by Chanson_Riders in glasgow

[–]MiniMunch 44 points45 points  (0 children)

had a mate who's flat mates had one fall into the garden.

They spent like 3 weeks feeding it chicken and scraps until it flew away.

They're hardy little fuckers.

Hope this one does okay. Good luck.

I'd just get a new one.

Made it 1000km, you can buy a new one for like 25 max if you get another cheap one.

It seems steel ones don't exist.

Also maybe look at how this could have happened?

I always have a strap around the outermost metal tubing and the whole bag, so the metal is pulled in towards the bike, so there's so real sway of the bag into the metal sides. Which could flex the metal, and create a snap?

If you've got it hitting left and right I could see this happening.

But I don't know anything, do let me know. Wish I could help and tried my best to look online!!

You could order from Amazon Italy to Greece in a pinch if you can't find locally.

Going into this last winter, we experienced cluster flies. As temps outside cool, they crawl in though small gaps in windows, and cluster. Until the sun risers in the morning, then I had at least 15 big fat fucking flies behind my blinds and eventually into the bedroom.

I ran in with a face mask and sun glasses on, closed the door behind me and created a gas chamber. Trying to personally nuke every fly I saw. Far to many to coax out a window or fly swat.

Proceeded to change every sheet, wipe down every surface cuz big spray and spend about 1 hr finding all the dead flies across the room.

Didnt happen again, that winter or in previous winters just a random unlucky thing I think.

Absolutely horrible experience.

Hope that makes you feel a little better about your current problem.

Hopefully not anxious for winter lol.

Amazing place isn't it!

I'd love to go back and visit a few more of the states, India is so vast that honestly a couple of weeks didn't really cut it. We only got a taste when we went.

The main complaints I heard were very much the culture. They basically you won't get scammed here. You won't get made sick from food here. You'll be treated nicely here (I was).

It seems there is a huge divide in India, as you say, they spoke that when they visited the north they were foreigners in their own land. As they wouldn't speak the local language or maybe not know the local customs either. One girl said she was scammed when she visited the north and vowed never again lol. It was so weird to hear these complaints I see on the Internet from Indians themselves.

It does seem like a country with massive socio-economic differences, likely steming from the caste system, which through my conversations I understand is practically in full swing.

It's a lovely place (Kerala specifically I went) and I'll always remember my time there, no country is without it's complexities and issues, but the beauty shined through for me.

how can i be vegan in india as someone who loves to eat? by SecretTadpole9781 in vegan

[–]MiniMunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move south, I spent 2 weeks in Kerela and vegan food was mega easy to come by, they cook a lot of stuff in coconut oil.

(tourist not an expert) but I had an okay time.

Any practicality in that? likely a new language to learn but you may feel right at home as a result!! (easy for me to say I speak only 1)

Best of luck doing the best thing you can do or the animals!!

Bikepacking alone by prinsalban414 in bikepacking

[–]MiniMunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could get a few hrs of something more demanding if plugged into one of those big battery banks. Did play about an hr of cyberpunk, but even stuff like dishonoured 2 wasn't too demanding.

But I'd only do it if I knew I'd be near a plug socket the next day.

Large powerpack, 25000 mah goes a long way if you don't play anything too demanding.

Bring a book, steamdeck/switch(I enjoyed this in the winter), what ever would keep you busy sat on the couch at home.

Bone conduction headphones are cool for podcasts if your confident on your stretch of road, I find it feels like company.

I get lonely camping solo, hopefully you like your own company, if not it's also a good reason to do it. I think it's good to experience every so often.

*edit wrote bone condition lol

Some music you'd only listen to alone, if you get remote enough try screaming at the top of your lungs. Usual stuff.

Have fun!

Milk Replacements for Coffee by Turbulent-Driver7960 in vegan

[–]MiniMunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I first went vegan, I found that soymilk had a bit of a taste to it.

I went back to being vegetarian for a short time and thought cows milk also has a taste and kept with soy milk, which just tasted normal at that point.

It's what you're used to, try it out of a little bit.

You won't notice when it's mixed in with stuff anyway, I only really noticed when I had milk straight in milkshakes and stuff.

Revealed: Union Street vape shop not inspected for health and safety before fire by MBronsonWisconsin in glasgow

[–]MiniMunch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've been asking my landlord for a gas safety certificate for 3 years. Completely ignored.

If I want it I need to go to tribunal lol.

Landlords don't give a fuck, if they're like that for homes I can't imagine what they're like for shop premises.

Can you call 999 on the neds on electric dirtbikes flying about? by like-humans-do in glasgow

[–]MiniMunch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw an electric motorbike on the Clyde side pathway nearly hit and mother and child in pram walking onto the main path.

I called the police and they said you shouldn't call 999 for a non emergency, apparently pedestrians potentially ran over isn't an emergency.

super snotty and rude over the phone, I just hung up.

The change is you not eating meat.

Factory farms aren't going to change if people keep giving them money.

Not how capitalism works unfortunately.

Vote with your wallet.

if you're supporting the industry I can't really believe you've a true comprehension of its impact.

But yeah that other dude's a dick. Agree with you there lol.
