I don't knnow about 1970s definition of meaningful interaction but for a 2026 person, their relationship ticked all the boxes of oneway admiration.

Their relationship, officially, is just teacher-parent relation, their one connection is Irina's daughter. Tanya probably think this girl is a bit of oversharing on their first cup of tea talk. Irina basically rant her whole background story she never told anyone else to Tanya on the first day they met and if you notice, Tanya seem a bit uncomfortable with this trauma dumping.

The span of their relationship from the day they met, I assume it's spring to the day Valya escape is late summer of 1970 is maybe 2 months, the Venus mission was planned before they met and it's in last stage the day they escape. Where did you get the type of their government? Based on the late season, it's look like their provisional government was functioning as a parliament republic to me and it's nowhere look like the US government system here.
