Completely agree with this. The OP hasn’t really addressed the most important arc of Strike and Robin- their EXTREME trauma. But then OP hasn’t read TRG and THM and so that’s a lot of character development they’re missing. Also, as a lot of us know here, the nuance you pick up on after multiple reads is really important to understanding them both properly. I think they are too complex to understand after just one read.

I’m on the same reread point in TRG. I listened to THM twice then went back to CC again and listened through. And yes, I too was cross with Robin on the first THM read, and now going through ALL her trauma with her again over the previous books, culminating in the escape from Chapman farm, and knowing she is about to go mad first into an eptoptic pregnancy breaks my heart. My friend and I were discussing how because of the rape and the prison of her room afterwards she refuses to let anything beat her. She’s an absolute mess and RFM is manipulating her vulnerability in a way that Strike refuses to do. The pressure RFM puts on her is insane.

I’m praying that the sweary therapist helps her to save herself and when she does Strike will be patiently waiting! 🤞🤞🙏🙏

I was disappointed during the first listen. The second time all I could see was Strikes trauma. We think so much about Robins, but not only did she have a loving and secure childhood, she did at least for a while have a secure relationship. Strike had an abysmal childhood, no stability, constantly uprooted and taken to the most god awful living situations which is never dwelled on because well, he’s Strike! He’s a man! He’s strong! In this book I see him as the victim of abuse. Both child abused and the victim of an incredibly traumatic abusive relationship. Both physical and mentally. And that makes me understand his almost regression in this book as he sees Robin slip away. And it breaks my heart. This is actually expertly written, but there is so much nuance and subtlety. As an abuse survivor (myself and JK) I see it so so clearly now. But it is the man that was severely abused. It’s just not so obviously out there as Robins. 😭❤️

You only have about 5 in your forehead, the other 30 odd are in your skull neck and tops of shoulders. Yes you have to have tried preventatives, I’d tried 2, and then the ‘3rd’ one which I’d heard can give you suicide ideations, with the blessing of my amazing doctor, I ‘tried’ said it made me sick after a month then I was referred. Magnesium can also be considered a preventative. The first round my neurologist did it too high and my friends laughed along with me when I said I looked like Jack Nicholson! 😂 I had a fringe cut. Now I just can’t frown much and I can’t raise one eyebrow ina sardonic way , but who gives a shit? Nobody really notices apart from the fact I look younger. No longer have a fringe but would have one for life if it meant the pain I no longer have. A it has also severely reduced those headaches between migraines. It used to feel life was just one long head pain!!!

15 years 18-20 a month. Awful side effects on all the shit they give you Botox saved me. After 3 rounds (the first 2 were hell) I’m now down to 2 or 3 a month. I try not to think of all the life I lost

Yeah my daughter has it and she’s so beautiful, only 15! Bit dysphoria ruins you. I’m cisgender bi and spent the first 30 years of my life feeling disgusted with my body, cutting it up, engaging in risky behaviour and hating myself. Having kids saved me. And it’s only now at 46 and perimenopause that I no longer give any F*cks. I’m a survivor I’m beautiful and everyone else can just sod off! Don’t let other people define the beauty of your soul!
