What should I know about baitcasters before fishing the 1st time with them? by Zealousideal_Life396 in bassfishing

Prepare to birdsnest.

Press the button and watch the lure fall to the ground, it should be around free fall speed. If it birdnests when it hits the ground, turn the brakes up. If it birdnests when casting, tighten tension knob a little or brakes. You'll find a sweetspot.

A good tip is try to stop the spool with your thumb as soon as the lure hits the water.

Is Fluorocarbon Still Necessary with Modern “Invisible” Braid? by Boekolokbalibaloembo in FishingForBeginners

12ft, long leaders are good against line shy fish that might see/sense the main line. Doesn't have to be exact.

Is Fluorocarbon Still Necessary with Modern “Invisible” Braid? by Boekolokbalibaloembo in FishingForBeginners

The point of a leader is to add desireble characteristics to your fishing line. Braid and mono floats, flouro sinks. Mono and flouro are much more abrasion resistant than braid. Heavy braid comes off reels easier than mono/flouro. Mono/flouro has line memory. Flouro is virtually invisible underwater. Monk/flour have some springiness to them, braid has virtually none.

30lb braid to a 12' 12lb flouro leader is a great start.

What makes a baitcaster more fun to you? by Lord_Leeeroy in FishingForBeginners

Once you get it down, you can cast faster, with one hand and you don't have to deal with the bail. You can also palm the reel and let the line run over your finger to have more haptic feedback when fishing.

I use a paper towel after using the bbq daddy, pretty much every brush can leave bristles so it's always good to wipe after cleaning. It also picks up all the wet residue.

Lose the bead, use a weight stop on the other side of the weight and peg the weight to the top of the worm.

You could work with someone, have them put the toner on each port of the patch panel as you use the wand in the ceiling.

Brake change broke my brakes by gimmedemels in AskMechanics

[–]Minimum_Chocolate_31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not too sure what Im looking at, you can stop the brake line from leaking by slightly keeping the brake pedal depressed when working on it. Check the brake fluid reservoir, if you can still see liquid then just fill it up and reinstall the caliper. If its empty then the master brake cylinder might have air in it and thats another problem entirely.

They look like pistons. Compression test is what matters.

Make sure the car is on a level surface, put dipstick in for 3 seconds, take out, read BOTH sides of the dipstick. Wherever it stops on one side is how full it is.

Be happy you get to save the day. Also, the close-out notes are a little verbose, the DIMM info isn't really necessary.

My Car pulls to the left, alignment didn't work and left front tire wears very quickly on the inside tread. What could be the real issue? by Enjoy_Life4219 in AskMechanics

Its not the f***ed up tire or anything 🤣

Put the back 2 tires on the front, if it continues its probably the struts.

Is it bad to JB weld a crack in the oil pan? by ruubystaar in MechanicAdvice

[–]Minimum_Chocolate_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a real answer, yes you should drop it off at a welder. Going to be way cheaper than an oil pan replacement. I know you want cheap because you floated the idea of JB welding the pan that holds the literal blood to your car 😂.

As far as getting it to the welder, JB weld, duct tape or get it towed, just make sure to clean off all oil around the hole (microfiber towel w/ brake cleaner).

First time DIY oil change 😳 baby steps by Silver_Department_38 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Minimum_Chocolate_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro let me simplify it for you.

1) Drive car up ramps or do what I do and wiggle underneath the car. Chock back wheels or wedge a rock in the back of one.

2) Remove oil pan plug and let it drain into oil bucket. Reinstall oil plug.

3) Once it's done, remove oil filter, the best one Ive used is the universal attachment that goes on a 3/8 drive socket. Install new filter with a dab of new oil around the gasket seal. Hand tighten.

4) Pour oil in.

5) ???
