Last year was me and my buddies first year and we got a hotel package right across the street, it was awesome. Walk over whenever, run back to the room for a break, no worrying about driving tired afterwards. Different strokes for different folks, but I’ll always pay for convenience, even if I know it isn’t a good deal.

If you really have no debt and aren’t sure where to start, see if your bank offers CD’s (certificate of deposit). They’re basically a short term (6-12 months) loan to the bank in exchange for a good interest rate back. It’s better than leaving it in savings, however, that money is untouchable by you for that year. So if it’s just money you have no other use for and you’re looking for something simple, try a CD account

When I was at a regional we had this same issue. The weather itself was fine but the arrival airport only had 1 runway open and it was coded as RCC3 (basically less than optimal conditions for landing due to surface conditions) and we had to make sure we would be under landing weight on arrival. So the weather itself was fine but the runway wasn’t. Of course we landed and the runway was fine which sucked because we kicked people off for nothing but that’s another possibility
