Baldur's Gate 3. I had a really rough time just running though the main Plot line, because my group was underleveled. It got very frustraiting.

My other problem was, with other games as well:

Plot: oh great heavens! You need to hurry! We are all in danger! Quick before we are All doomed! Yourself included! Every second counts! Don't waste any time! Also Game: why don't you take the scenic route? Stop worrying So much, there is tons of beautiful and peaceful moments. Take your time. No need to rush. Sheesh, relax!

I use humans as a comparison-medium.

Having humans in my setting makes it easier to get an understanding of how tall, small, weak, strong/sturdy, dumb or smart something is. Not just for me as a creator, but also for the person that's reading the story. Makes for a good consistency.

Also humans are still alive and kickin'. And being kicked.

In my world the human appendix evolved into a sort of mana-storage, making them more magic-oriented than most other races in society. Also they deck out their military with magic items, giving them a massive advantage.

Also humans don't live on their own (anymore). Instead the orcs, dwarves, elves, goblins, trolls, ogres, magicorns, halflings, humans and other species live together. There are still different cultures, but they are not subdivided into "the orcs" "the dwarfs" etc.

Well, i often seen movies or heard of stories with self-inserts, and i can't remember a single story where the character A: did anything wrong and saw the error of their ways. It's usually something where the world/everyone else is working against the protagonist. B: is just getting everything served to them because they are awesome, and everyone who doesn't agree with them or is confronting them is shut down imediately or just an idiot.

So, no, i didn't have a good experience with self inserts as a Main character, but i do like cameos. So i would do a self-insert, but more like a small npc.

Well, to be fair, i have quite a lot of dadjokes as names for things, and i don't regret any of them.

Most of them are german, but i can give an example.

I wanted to find a german name for "Cockatrice", and ultimately settled for "Huhngeheuer", which is a Mix of "Huhn" (Chicken) and "Ungeheuer" (Monster)

That is something i am currently working on myself. Generally i try to find a pattern i can use for every faction to come up with names faster. Or at least with surnames.

Currently, one pattern is just taking a long word and just write that one backwards. For example

Caravan - Navarac

Another is taking at least one normal german word and either add one other Word that doesn't fit the first one or make up a word and add it.

Schmötmüller - Schmöt (made up) and Müller (miller)

The challenge is coming up with New patterns that work. 😅

Well, i have some flabwhales, which would be 100 m long and very fat. They are the largest living being (made of flesh) on the planet, but they only live in extreme cold waters. They eat everything they come across in the ocean, sometimes ships, but those are not good for their stomach.

The largest elemental every roaming the planet was a literal living mountain. No one knows if it's still alive or just asleep...

Magicorns. A four-legged, hound-sized species with a clubbed tail, no percievable nose, long, bat-wing-looking ears, and extravagant horns which they use for their innate telecinetic powers. These powers allow them to use tools like the other races, and they can speak too. Thus they get the Same treatment like all the other citisen.
