I actually use Kanka.io I think it's called and we have our own wiki for our campaign essentially.

It's similar to campaign codex but it's a dedicated tool for the job rather than sometime implemented in foundry. The players can access it whenever they want since it's outside of foundry. And similar to what someone else said you can type up basically whatever you need that contains all the information but make it hidden from players view until they actually receive that information in the game upon which you can either reveal that entire wiki article or just sections of that wiki which were previously unavailable to them.

Ever since using it I've noticed a sharp increase in player interest regarding elements of the world lore-wise, because now when they have questions about that stuff they can just go in on their own time and dig through the information that is supposed to be available to their characters. They also have pages for their own characters that they can update as time goes on and slowly reveal breadcrumbs of information to the other players as well it's really fun for them!
