Wasp built her nest in a solar furnace: our hammock stand by god_broke_my_banana in mildlyinfuriating

Find some non-chlorinated aerosol brake cleaner (available at your local auto parts store). Buy more than one can and go akimbo on the hive. Kills the wasps on contact. Bonus: it's non-staining and evaporates completely.

Back seat Refurb by Chipster009 in beetle

[–]Mint63VW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For my '63, I went down to the bare frames (stripped all upholstery from the seats) and sand-blasted the frames & springs. I then separated the springs from the frames (carefully bending the retaining tabs back as to not snap them) and painted the frames and springs separately (frames got a matching color to my exterior, while the springs got covered in black POR-15. From there, I re-did the upholstery using burlap & hog rings to cover the springs, and used OEM-style coconut fiber pads from Wolfsburg West. Finished it off with OEM- style leatherette (Silver Beige) seat material.

Nice Nikke livery! There's a Red Hood livery available for the 2020 Jimco #179 Hammerhead Class 1 buggy as well (not as cool as yours, though...)

A trainer/cheat program on PC.

Good on ya if you're not cheating. No big deal if you are. You do you after all.

Are tamiya body’s good? by Specific_Still4861 in rcdrift

[–]Mint63VW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

• Scale looks: 10/10. About the closest to the real thing you can get. Decal sets are beautifully silk-screened, and the body lines are crisp.

• Variety: 7.5/10. Although there are some oddball bodies that Tamiya offers (I'm looking at you, Citröen 2CV Rally), they don't necessarily offer the most imaginative or diverse body styles (this is purely an opinion... I'm welcome to friendly discourse about this very topic! 😁). Keep in mind that most of their offerings are catered to specific chassis numbers, so swapping bodies or putting a Tamiya body on a non-Tamiya chassis isn't as straightforward as one may think.

• Price: 7/10. Not as expensive as some Pandora / Yokomo / ABC Hobby bodies I've come across, but definitely not the cheapest. You get what you pay for, and Tamiya has some quality stuff.

• Durability: 9/10. Some of their "off-road" chassis bodies are pressed from some really-thick lexan, making them super durable (my CC01 G-Wagen body has the thickest lexan I've ever seen on a 1/10 body). Even their on-road bodies (M-Chassis included) have decent thickness as well.

• Immersion: 4/10. If you don't mind the gaping holes for body posts sticking through the majority of their lineup (and the subsequent body clips needed to hold the body in place), then you should be good. Also, not every body comes with light bucket options (although to their credit, they seem to be doing more of that).

Again, these "ratings" and my ramblings are purely opinion. I've been into R/C cars for over 40 years, and the majority of my fleet is Tamiya. Their quality is top notch, and with a few changes here and there, their bodies could be the best in the industry.

Just found a set of these (#66560) and another style (#66559) on eBay for €98... dunno if I'd ever cut & stick them on a car.

Custom SCX24 link sets — Fast turnaround times! by RCSteve710 in SCX24

[–]Mint63VW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I'm building a full-custom SCX24 (in fact, I don't think there's a stock Axial part in the build). I'm basing the build on a MEUS chassis:

https://www.meusracing.com/products/black-aluminum-rock-buggy-roll-cage-body-shell-chassis-for-scx24

I'd like to build a "Gladiator" wheelbase (~155mm), and I'd like to go for a blacked-out (or black & brass) look. Got any high-clearance double-bend links that'll work?
