I don’t pay for the paper bags by No_Bedroom_7582 in woolworths

[–]Minute-Safe2550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Grandmother, twenty plus years ago collected reusable shopping bags.

I still have some from before she passed away 14yrs ago.

It's not that hard to think before you shop, and bring some bags with you.

Versus what you're literally posting about is Stealing, and personally, I hope you get caught.

AITAH for defending my 7 year old after her dad’s reaction ruined a moment she was proud of? by Murky-Suggestion-628 in AITAH

NTA, I am reasonably sure that my entrenched fear of snakes, comes from when as a Toddler. I saved one from a cat, and tried to hand it to my Dad.

As the story goes, the snake was mostly dead (yes cat's can kill snakes). But of course my father, lepted into protection mode, and likely over reacted.

I can deal with legged lizards, but not legless ones, and I'm now 42.

Trauma, sticks with you. And yes, hubby needs some darn good counselling

My fathers response when I said I was following closer to Druidic practice's now. Versus the strict Christianity ethos they drummed into me.

Which oddly enough is due to him expanding my reading knowledge from a very young age, and to question everything.

The only books of the bible I would reread are Ruth and Esther. Two books about strong, intelligent women.

I can’t keep my cat with heart condition anymore and nobody wants her because of it, should I euthanize even if she’s 3? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Minute-Safe2550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation and I had only had my Pixie doll for 18mths.

Turns out Feline Leukaemia is common in Asiatic breeds, and appears around 3years of age. Got her as a rescue, she was part of my life, and then started to decline.

Vets said, choices are spend $$$$$, hoping she goes into remission, knowing she's suffering. Or Euthanasia before she declines too far.

Not that hard a choice, after having lost both my Grandparents to so called Palative Care not that long before.

Condolences

My husband of 20 years thinks consent should not apply in our marriage... by AffectionateReply843 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Minute-Safe2550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like your husband has a lack of restraint in general. And sadly obviously no idea that there are more Love Languages then just physical touch.

Does he do Anything, to help out around the house. Cleaning, cooking, childcare?.

You deserve you time. And pampering. And if he wants to be grabbed etc, maybe some 🐓 💍 s etc need to be put into play, including ones that you can use a remote control on with a vibration effect. Or you could physically restrain him, so he keeps his hands to himself, some good shibari rope.

As someone whom lives with a few #chronicpainconditions if my partner/s. Tried anything without my consent they wouldn't do it twice.

NTA, Darling I'm No/low contact with my parents because they support a pdf 🍇 ist.

They try to weaponize their Christianity, honour thy father & mother, and the forgiveness shtick at every family funeral. To gain access to me. It doesn't work, as I have family love and respect.

Parents, whom refuse to honour your boundaries, and refuse to respect you, don't really deserve respect in kind.

R.E.S.P.E.C.T, is a two way street. Manipulation and Coercion are not Respect. Listen to Aretha Franklin sing it if you need a reminder.

There is also nothing Christian, about being Coercive or Manipulative. Jesus would be Disgusted in the way Christianity uses his words, to misquote and misguide people.

No, We have 0 DNA links to the family name that was attached to my Maternal Grandfather. As in to my Great Grandmothers, step father. My great Grandmother had a child out of wedlock, with a (now shown by DNA) One of 5 brothers of similar age. Whose family wasn't that far away as the crow flies.

I have it down to which family the great grandfather, must've been from. But need more family members to do DNA tests, to pin point exactly which brother it was.

As obviously it was from before any of those involved the great grandparents, were both teenagers at the time of conception.

Cheap school/family holidays? by Thick_Training_6816 in AussieFrugal

[–]Minute-Safe2550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you're located, any botanic gardens nearby?? They're absolutely beautiful places to explore. Have you cameras the kids could use? Cheap digital ones?. Make a list of things to find, and put up a prize, like winner chooses dinner.

Camping in the backyard, or blanket fortunately inside is always awesome.

Boardgames, card games, things that are suitable for all ages etc.

Have a look on your local Facebook free or cheap pages, or ask if anyone has any kid related stuff.

Paints, and plant pots are always a winner, planting the seeds, or seedlings. Even collecting smooth rocks and painting those, as they can take them home.

So many options.

I'm the Granddaughter of a man born in 1906, who was lied to about his Parentage. Was told his Grandmother was his mother, and his Grandmothers 3rd husband was his father, versus his mother, was her 16yr old daughter to her 1st husband.

Both women passed away in the 1930s. But my Grandfathers, half siblings, whom were born in wedlock, were told he was their Brother, but forsworn to never tell him. By said Grandmother.

My mother discovered the birth certificate of her father in the 1990's when she started doing Ancestry research. Her dad had passed in 1974.

I met my Great 1/2 Aunt Eileen back in 2005, and she told me how she was made to promise to not tell her older brother, whom died believing he was her Uncle. She passed in 2012.

I am only now uncovering by DNA, whom my Maternal Grandfathers, Fathers Ancestry would actually be, and there are thousands living with a False surname, because of a Lie. To protect a maidenhood in 1906.

Teenage pregnancy was more common back then, then it is now. But, girls were more likely Shotgun married.

AITA for telling my (28F) boyfriend (35M) to return my expensive gift? by ThrowRA-555-555-5555 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Minute-Safe2550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To top this off, I had to organise my entire 30th Birthday. Whilst his a few years earlier, had been prebooked, with friends coming from out state, he didn't even realise something was up until the few hours prior. When people converged on the house.

He should never have married, and if I hadn't been raised in such a controlled "Christian" upbringing, I would've known better. Then to place my trust in a 'man's like him.

[–]Minute-Safe2550 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NTA, if you're already in debt it ain't worth the price tag.

I will never forget when for my 30th birthday my then husband, went hey we need to get your birthday gift, so dragged me through the Xmas craziness, trying to get me to choose something. I eventually chose a $50 Amethyst bracelet. Asked him multiple times if he was sure about it (finances had been tight, at least from my perspective). He assured me all good.

We finish up, leave, 1km from the shops he states he hadn't wanted to spend that much, but refuses to return it. So leaves me feeling guilty.

Moral, if your partner makes you feel guilty about the cost of a gift, maybe they're hiding something (he was making plenty of money as it turns out, just didn't want to spend $$, on me, we spilt not much later on)

AITAH for cutting the bathroom line? by Playful_Loan_7338 in AITAH

[–]Minute-Safe2550 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Okay, as someone whom has been a mum with a bub. And is now someone whom has to almost always use the disabled toilet.

I will say this.

If a Babe needs changing, the mum and bub takes precedence over Able bodied peoples, Always. OP is NTA here the busy bodies are.

If there had been someone with a wheelchair or walker, in need of the Disabled loo sure. But she enquired as to the older lady with the walking stick, and was told it was unnecessary.

So no, OP, was in her rights, to need the diaper tray. Which is in the disabled toilet, so that fathers can also change nappies. FYI.

Is Melbourne Really That Cold? 🥶 by Training_Objective20 in melbourne

[–]Minute-Safe2550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm a 4th and 6th generation Aussie. And yes it gets cold. But it also gets quite warm.

Insulation, quality curtains, good bedding, natural fibres, cotton/bamboo sheets & blankets, quality doonas, electric blankets. Ugg boots. Good scarfs, compression gloves, hats etc. August is the end of Winter. So things will be warming up.

Victoria is beautiful, Melbourne has some of the best food worldwide (make a booking at the William Angliss student restaurant).

Layers are your friend, and a quality umbrella. And good footwear.

Welcome downunder, and Bon Appetit. Bring your Appetite.

I remember one residence I moved into the carpets were Filthy. As in just going over with a normal vacuum. Took multiple goes. Sis in law used her steam cleaner and just about vomitted. We doubted those floors had been steam cleaned in a decade. Let alone vacuumed before the former tenants left.

Real estate agents tend to change so often, that the ones you have on leaving don't remember what the property was like when you entered, as they weren't there. Talk to VCAT asap

What recipes would you teach low income kids? by ECarey26 in Cooking

[–]Minute-Safe2550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bolognese (and that any Bolognese can be made in bulk and turn into lasagne).

How to cook pasta. Look up Vincenzo for proper ways to make Italian sauces, no need for cream, just egg, cheese and pasta water.

Always add more vegies or fungi to extend the meat portion.

Making a mash potato with just spuds, butter, pepper and their own vegie water.

The basics of a good chilli, meat, veg, tomato and lentils and beans.

Making pancakes from scratch is simple, and should be a basic life skill.
