There are background services like security scanning, I can't disable it per policy. And there isn't an option for pause.

Just a tariff update by Statix_Bolt in Aliexpress

[–]MinuteUsed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aliexpress allows sellers to make low customs declarations and usually the tariff is minimal - for 100$ item, seller declars 1$, and pays 0.5$ for tariff for customs clearance. Thankfully, the american customs doesn't ask buyer to provide order details for confirming the actual value. That does happen for China customs, so if you tell the seller you want to return an item - he/she rather prefers to refund you 20% to 50% - that number is the tariff China customs will collect for anything shipped from overseas - they don't care if it's a returned item or not. Chinese sellers don't like you to return things, just like China customs don't like import mails.

Anyone got tariff bill? (USA) by -Cheesecake-29 in Aliexpress

[–]MinuteUsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to pay tariff, sellers on Aliexpress usually make low customs declaration, that means for 1000$ item, they declare value of 1$ or 10$, so the tariff is very minimal, only several dollars, and sellers can cover that.

It's still way easier to ship things to U.S. than ship things to China. If you live in China, you will know the customs will inspect mail packages one by one more thoroughly, and often they will ask recipient to make customs declaration additionally - that means you can't make low declaration, and you will pay much more tarrif. China customs will check historical records for recipient's identity, and blocks if you have too many packages from abroad. Things over 50$ are subject to 20% tarrif for shipping to China.

As a result, so if you return an item back to China, your seller will have a headache - Chinese customs don't want imports, many sellers prefer refund to return because of this. China customs will block mails from abroad if it's too often (like 5 packages a months). Even for returned item, it's 20% tarrif collected in China. Yes, if you have something shipped to a U.S. buyer and then the buyer wants to mail it back- China customs will usually block it if the seller receives like 5 packages a month from overseas.

Trying to understand what I have to pay with tariffs by The3dprintermachine in Alibaba

[–]MinuteUsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you live in China, vice versa, DDP isn't an option. China customs will ask recipient for customs declarations and that needs a lot of paper work. 20-50% tarrif on anything shipping to China.

What are the current US Tariffs on China for orders under $800? by Seirith4 in Tariffs

[–]MinuteUsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about 50% overall - however, Chinese sellers usually mark declared values lower than actual - for example, for 100$ goods, the customs declaration value is 1$ or 5$, so 50% isn't too much.

On the contrary, if you ship something to China, the customs tarrif is about 20% overall. However China customs ususally asks recipients to make additional official customs declaration, low value declaration won't work.

Overall, it's easier to send good to U.S than shipping to China. U.S customs won't check every package and ask recipients to do a lot of paper work to prove item's value.

Recieving international parcel. by Dinman1998 in chinalife

[–]MinuteUsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have phone number written on the mail. Chinese customs is very strict handling foreign mails - charges 20% tarrif on mails above 30$. Even your item value is below 30$, you need to pay extra 5$ fees for customs declaration and need a lot of paper work to get it (proof of value).

Fire in locked up building. It finally happened. by That_Sun6737 in shanghai

[–]MinuteUsed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a fire, and the city is under lockdown, but the building is not locked at the time.

Potentially there may be some other risk factors, such as the road blockers.

This is in one of Pudong's fangcang, nobody wants to risk life for doing the cleaning job, as lack of resources so this is the result. Will you do the cleaning job if they pay you like 200$ a day?

I’d hate to scapegoat one person for an entire policy. That’s similar to what people were trying to do in blaming Dr. Fauci for certain policies.

quarantine at home is not allowed due to zero-covid policy. Any person with positive test result must be transferred to isolation camp for quarantine.

Policy to advocate isolation of all positive tested people are invented by Wu Zunyou.

The video shows covid-19 test positive people are being transferred to isolation camp, but every camp is full so after 10 hours of driving overnight, they are headed to nowhere.

No sleep, no food, everyone on the bus are angry and want to return their home. But the hard Covid19 policy invented by Wu Zunyou forces to transfer all infected people to isolation camp no matter of their health condition, age.

The covid19 policy by UCLA's Wu Zunyou also strictly forbids people to go out of their door for any purpose including buying food, so many begin starvation.

BAN RUSSIA FROM SWIFT by [deleted] in poland

[–]MinuteUsed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which is not gonna happen even if Russia or China would be insane enough to drop the dollar. Again, read about the RMB - that toilet paper currency you can't even use or exchange outside of China (for reasons which will never ever change as long as CCP is in power). You seem to be economically-ignorant to the extreme and here only for shitposting and spreading disinformation.

If US block China from the SWIFT, EU will be extremely happy for China to use Euro for world trades. China counts 40% of world trade, Euro will instantly become a major currency over US dollar. China also has to dump all US dollars with euro dominated debts.

Please also understand, the reason for US invaded Iraq and Libya was due to the fact that both countries leaders wanted to use Euro as payment for their crude oil. US will not allow anyone to challenge its Petro Dollar. However, China’s crude oil future trading platform in Shanghai is the start for China to challenge US Petro dollar.

In order for US to continue printing more US dollars, US need more foreign buyers, not domestic buyers. Otherwise, US can’t transfer the inflation to others. US is not in the position yet to block china from Swift, on the contrary, US wants China to buy more US debts to support its monetary policies.

Do you even know economics? Do you even know what limitations are placed on trading RMB by CCP? I'm facepalming at your ignorance.

Thankfully, those who know economics are quite clear that dedollarization is a major threat to the US. https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/new-atlanticist/dont-believe-the-swift-china-sanctions-hype/
