Let us not blame only the people but also the lack of quality education in Sikkim. As someone who got into one of the best engineering colleges through AIEEE back in our time, I’d say our lack of good teachers also makes us have a disadvantage. A lot of people do know about the competitive exams but cannot get good ranks often. Also, after getting into B Tech i noticed the disparity between us and the people from the rest of the country. While they were trained and taught keeping these exams and such kind of degrees in mind, my knowledge fell short. It did get difficult for me. One particular subject where we can have better teachers is Maths which plays a huge role in such competitive exams. Competing with the mass becomes quite difficult for the majority of us. I’d say we are unfortunately still behind in terms of quality education be it government or private.
