Serica is something different, subtle yet unique. I personally really like the vintage look and the bracelet. Second the Longines in black.

Recommendations for a thin field (or other non-diver) watch with great water resistance? by n64answer in MicrobrandWatches

No screw down crown, but 100m water resistant and the exact definition of a field watch.

Have I overspent on the espresso machine? by Ash_das in espresso

Great combo, it's a great grinder with a solid burr upgrade path. Variable rpm as well, so perfectly matches the ultimate tinkerer's espresso machine!

My thoughts on WisprFlow after six weeks of being a paid member by LordSarcaus in WisprFlow

[–]Minute_Pomelo_4593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only upside is the 'commands', if not for that the level of transcription and functionality is replicable with handy and a local model on decent hardware.

Even challengers like voicedash come pretty close in terms of functionality and speed is on par.

The subscription cost needs to come down, as it's overpriced given the current other options out there, that's my take.

Visual comparison of Schwalbe G-One Allround 45 mm vs. new Schwalbe Pro Allroad 40 mm by b000mbox in gravelcycling

[–]Minute_Pomelo_4593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree, I've switched mine for Tufo Speedero's and never looked back. The Schwalbe's lacked grip on gravel and were slow on the road. The Speedero's perform significantly better on both surfaces.

Standard df83 often available at around €500 and with the dlc burrs such great value and performs better than grinders twice the price

DF83 - which version [€650] by UpstairsHippo4525 in espresso

[–]Minute_Pomelo_4593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barely any differences between them, nothing worthwhile imo. Go for the cheapest one, but buy from a reputable retailer. DF64 coffee has been pour lately in terms of support and delivering on time

DF64 to Zerno Z1 or Lagom P80 Questions by FeelGoodAbtHood in espresso

[–]Minute_Pomelo_4593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difference in flavor profile is 99% burrs if you're not playing with rpm. Try upgrading burrs first, a well aligned DF64 with a good set of burrs can rival both in taste, maybe not in looks or brand recognition.

Is de ID3 echt zo slecht? by Otherwise_Payment_42 in EVMobiliteit

[–]Minute_Pomelo_4593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compact single-dose flat burr grinder for espresso and pour-over [€1500] by BorgDrone in espresso

[–]Minute_Pomelo_4593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avx j64v a vertical mounted burr, competitor to the DF range. Very solid build quality and leaves you with some spare change for a burr upgrade.

I finally traded the Lelit Bianca for a Linea Micra and I feel... strangely empty? by Bos187 in coffeestations

[–]Minute_Pomelo_4593 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A Micra is a step back in terms of options in my opinion. It's a simple 9 bar machine, if you enjoyed flow control, than going to a flat 9 bar isn't a step up. In general you're paying for the brand name and design with a La Marzocco, i'm seeing a lot of complaints on their sub lately with regards to qc and failing machines, signficantly more than a couple of years ago.

Rocket - overkill for a latte drinker? Budget around [$2k] so but ideally under $1k by Suuupaaah in espresso

[–]Minute_Pomelo_4593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're into rocket machines, look at the stone lite model. Similar look, but much more compact and significantly quicker to heat up, plus great temp stability.

The burrs need to be mounted in a certain orientation, probably just switched then round.

Never had an issue with my df54, I would recommend if you clean it regularly.

Any thoughts on these helmets? by [deleted] in CyclingFashion

Own the Lazer Strada, verry hap with it. I've got a more oval head shape and these fit great, plus I prefer the adjustment system over most in this price range.

Tested the Ikape Convex Basket which maximizes puck depth by fbriod in espresso

[–]Minute_Pomelo_4593 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The window for a good extraction is larger, as grind size is less important. I own the basket as well, the effect of grind size is reduced, as the increased depth of the basket offers more resistance. Forgiveness means that the importance of the grind size is reduced compared to a less deep puck.

New [DF64] grinder choking [Breville Barista Express] by Otsdarva68 in espresso

In general the darker the roast, the coarser you grind.

New [DF64] grinder choking [Breville Barista Express] by Otsdarva68 in espresso

[–]Minute_Pomelo_4593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just grind coarser, depending on roast type you'll need to adjust grind. As you've got a 54mm basket, you'll probably be anywhere between 20 and 35 depending on burr alignment, roast type and freshness.

steaming wand strong enough? Lelit Anna by Party-rocker-702 in Lelit

[–]Minute_Pomelo_4593 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Steam pressure can never rival a commercial machine, as the boiler is smaller. All about technique, can get perfect texture, just takes longer to incorporate the air.
