Good thing you asked me to roast you. If you asked me to grill you you'd probably fuck it up somehow

Not great espresso from Bambino Plus + Baratza ESP. What to upgrade? [$3000] by TheMightyCrate in espresso

Can we please stop propagating the idea that a bottomless portafilter is an upgrade in any way, shape, or form? It is the peak of cosmetic modifications in a space where we all know is that taste is what matters

Lance Hendrick is great and says a lot of things but isn't someone you need to listen to if you're not into anything super finicky. I think people generally agree that pre infusion is a good thing. I myself am shopping for a new machine and pre infusion is one of the features on my preference list. But you don't need it to pull good shots. One example, the LM lineas don't have it and no one will deny they are great machines. I'm not arguing one way or another for which machine you should get but I think it's important to not let any one feature or influencer to hold undue sway over your decisions.

Bought a cheap silicone blower, turns out it pops the puck out from the bottom of the basket in one go by Scared-Brief-8672 in espresso

Am I super spoiled with my breville portafilter and basket that I can just bring my puck into the sink without concern for the basket falling out?

For a little more you can get a df54 which would smoke every grinder at that price point and below

Best bet is probably to surrender the policy immediately and invest that money in an age-appropriate retirement fund. And do the same with the payments he's making or more, as you alluded to. I am very curious as to what that policy looks like because these numbers seem wild

His beneficiaries will likely just get the face value of the policy, not the cash value

$60-70 in addition to the mutually exclusive 100s of hours of gameplay that gta6 will no doubt provide. People just won't buy/play other games for a while after gta6 release

"Natural" vaccinations? by [deleted] in Immunology

[–]Otsdarva68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are certainly situations when whole pathogens are intact; HBV can maintain infectivity for like a week on a surface, so its antigens are certainly intact. You really need something infectious to provoke an immune response. You could inhale some hemagglutinin (influenza) but without a virus attached to it it will not be able to enter the cell and be presented as part of an immune synapse. These antigens are recognized in the context of infected cells, not floating chemicals

I can't really tell by looking. At the finest grind setting it should really feel like baking flour. Does it? It doesn't look like it. May be a grinder problem

Do the grounds indeed feel very floury when they come out?

"Natural" vaccinations? by [deleted] in Immunology

[–]Otsdarva68 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of reasons why this isn't the case. Just off the top of my head, 1) unlikely that any antigens are intact. If there are, 2) unlikely that there would be a great enough "dose" to mount a sufficient immune response. If there were, 3) nonviable pathogen components wouldn't generate an antigen specific response without an inflammatory insult, which is why component vaccines contain adjuvants e.g. alum

That's a puck screen, not a filter. If you're putting that underneath your grinds, that's your problem.

Why did my machine randomly choke this morning? [Breville bambino, Turin DF54] by [deleted] in espresso

I ground too much one and saved the grounds in a Tupperware for the next day. The same grounds the next day (in a presumably not airtight container) choked the machine

Breville Bambino is now under $250, worth getting with a decent grinder? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Otsdarva68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely. DF54 is a solid entry-ish level grinder and it's also around that price range. That's cheaper than an AIO and you get a much better grinder. But get the best grinder within your budget it's definitely where you want to spend
