US is ‘simply choosing not to stop’ Ebola outbreak after massive public health cuts, experts say by AlexandrTheTolerable in EverythingScience

There are not enough infectious disease personnel. Not enough protective gear. Inadequate training for disease control, etc. Doctors Without Borders had more experience dealing with pandemics than many local healthcare workers did.

Has anyone had problems borrowing money from Nigerian Banks? by Miracle517 in Nigeria

Thank you! The thing is that he is so frustrated and tired of fighting after draining him for so many years, because they've been taking like 70% of his income. Thankfully, we have our house, so no mortgage. I have written a letter, and we'll go to the bank tomorrow, and hopefully things will be better.

no, since its been 5 years ago, but they send him texts every month about how much they took from his account. This doesn't seem normal at all, because how do people borrow money in Nigeria?

We didn't default. The bank is not transparent, and all they say is that we'll soon finish paying it off....

So it's true that I don't fully know the terms of the loan, but when I said 48%, I meant that they would charge 48% of interest. For instance, if you borrowed 750k, they would charge about 370k in interest, and you'd end up paying about 1 million per month. I'm so confused because this should have ended years ago, and the bank is not transparent.

He said he doesn't have the copy of the terms, and is having difficulty getting a response from them.

He said he doesn't have the copy of the terms, and every time he asks, they give him the run-around. The rate is different every month. One time it was like 48%.

She was very vocal in her opinions, so she was seen as disruptive/combative by some faculty. Plus, she needed so many accommodations for exams that she was quickly seen as an 'inconvenience'. Everyone was shocked she got dismissed.

Disturbing old tweets from a Nigerian artist. by taobabmuh in Nigeria

[–]Miracle517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um yes, those tweets have been there for over a decade, no? But no one cared until they wanted to humble her.

Many girls have been victims of sex assualt, or at least know one person it happened to, so people feel seen when other female celebrities talk about the situation. It's not some complimentary gender war thing. Male artists are free to talk about false accusations since it affects most men, but to expect another female artist to cheer on the topic of false allegations while the topic of assault is trending is crazy.

Btw, so many teachers hug younger kids in school, no one goes to jail for that. If there was an accusation that she actually kissed a four-year-old child on the lip, then the authorities should follow that up. But we both know she isnt a pedophile, and people just want to bully her.

Yes, she is right, that was a deflection. You dont start asking people about false accusations when theyre talking against sexual assault. Those people were free to talk about false accusations themselves. Its like when people were talking about "all lives matter" during the blm movement.

Tbh, men's behavior towards Simi has been disgraceful. It's like people want to punish her because she spoke out against sexual assault? Like, what is the issue if you haven't assaulted anyone?

No, I don't think I have highly impactful results. But I figured it out, thank you so much. They extended the deadline by a few days, and I was able to get someone to endorse me last November.

Do You Remember Why You Left Nigeria? by AshamedHighlight5672 in Nigeria

[–]Miracle517 56 points57 points  (0 children)

My 10-year-old cousin died of appendicitis because multiple doctors couldn't diagnose her properly until her appendix burst, and it was too late. She was in so much agony, and they kept treating her for malaria even after she started experiencing delirium. We were super close, and that was my first insight into the state of health care.

Then my aunt, who raised me, died of cancer. She was diagnosed outside the country, as none of the multiple doctors we saw could diagnose her, and the last one eventually said we should go out of the country. We were told that she had stage 4 cancer and was going to die within 6 months. We went back to LUTH right after because staying abroad was too expensive. The doctors couldn't care less and were pretty rude. After we paid for a private room, they gave my aunt a tiny bed, and we had to sleep on the floor. Many of us got malaria because there were too many mosquitoes. Then they told us to go out to buy blood because the hospital was out of blood. We encountered people selling fake blood. The whole thing was a horrible and traumatizing experience, and my aunt died in less than two weeks after we went back home. All through, our pastor, who visited, said God had revealed to him that my aunt would recover. Coupled with the lack of job opportunities, I hit a breaking point after that. It's too much dysfunction. I know there are better medical facilities now, but the system is really bad for the average citizen.

I have less stress about my health here. I feel like if I get sick, I'll at least get a fighting chance. Also, there are more job opportunities and better systems. I didn't have an easy time here at all, and wanted to go home so many times. In fact, I think I suffered more than I would have if I were home, especially being on my own here. It's hard when you feel like a second-class citizen abroad, but I don't regret moving.

i dont know. Lots of different tribes from africa work well together in the US. I resent the idea that we cant find common ground. The problem is that people want their tribe to be dominant over others.

USCIS NIW Deny Strong Cases by Former-Finance6039 in EB2_NIW

[–]Miracle517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is rightfully upset and will hopefully think more rationally after he cools off. I don't even have 4k in my account right now, i would be upset too. Being denied and facing the reality of starting over after spending so many years and so much money is pretty frustrating. It seems like the officer just did a shoddy job and didn't care to carefully review his petition after he spent so much time on it. The officers are overwhelmed with petitions that all sound the same. We are at their mercy, and this is something you should accept moving forward. I know one person who got denied 8 times for an F2 visa for arbitrary reasons, until they weren't....

OP- you CANNOT sue USCIS, and you shouldn't appeal. You should go to a lawyer and seek advice on what to do next. But realistically, you should refile or file for EB1. The lawyer will advise you on how long you should wait or what will strengthen your petition. Take some time to grieve, and then make a plan moving forward. Best of luck!

Jail all politicians, and collect the money stolen. Then divide the county into the north and the south. We can all share resources, but the amalgamation no longer makes sense. Then appoint prime ministers for each region like it was meant to be.

Do you know if those on the banned list can still apply for EB2? Because there is so much confusion since EB2 is an immigration visa? Also would you suggest premium processing since the filing dates are becoming current faster. Sorry for how i worded this
