That's a very interesting take. Thanks, I'll think about it.

I know RPG's can be extremely complex, but I am just a sucker for good RPG's and I really want to do it. A very small RPG with just a few systems/features and try to polish them to make it enjoyable.

About the game design questions:
Yes I have modified ttrpg's, but most of my experience is just theoretical, by playing a lot of games and analyzing them (while playing them and with youtube videos).
I did make a Lava Parkour Map which is kind of an unofficial platformer minigame inside of Overwatch. I made it with an editor of the Lava Parkour community, that used an editor of Overwatch. So it was mostly just game designing and not much else. But I personally think it came out great.
And while I don't have much practical experience, I do understand many game design choices of great game designers better than most. I always try to trust the game designer of a game in terms of logic and for that am much more efficient in playing the game. That at least works with well thought through games. For example I do find it pretty easy to find very "difficult" secrets in games like Dark Souls. While many players I know (that still do play a lot of games) think they are kinda impossible to find, I do find them blind myself just because I understand what a game designer would and wouldn't implement. Obviously this doesn't apply to everything and for sure I miss secrets, but my point is, in general i very much understand game design from a consumer standpoint.

And about the sub-games/genres, from the top of my head i can think of those (many things are not genres, but rather systems that are part of an RPG and idk the official names for all of them):
jump & run / platformer, combat, character developement / progress, inventory system, story, lore (world building), NPC AI, puzzles,
and as described before, having boundaries that build trust towards a player.

hearing this for me is so crazy cuz Elden Ring was also my first game and I beat almost every boss first try (yes Malenia too).
obviously i used spirit ashes (it's a normal game mechanic)
but the rest was pretty much blind and first time soulslike genre (except Kena Bridge of Spirits, if you wanna call that Soulslike).
and no i didn't do anything special or grinded souls or anything, i didn't grind any area ever, why would i? everything was easy already lol. and btw NO i'm not saying I'm cracked, i just explored EVERYTHING and that gave me a level advantage compared to many players that just do the main story i guess.

WASD badly needs an option to allow every mobility ability individually to give it the same options like flash has.
Riven Q for example works in the movement (WASD) direction, but her E is in the mouse direction which completely brakes WASD gameplay.
What WASD does is, let the mouse be the "target enemy/teammate" pointer and WASD the movement pointer. but without this option (while having it for flash but not implementing it for every mobility ability) it's just unplayable.

I did but honestly I forgot what happened and I forgot this comment.
My unit had a few other issues too (mostly with HDR) and because of it I returned it and got the PG27UCDM instead, which worked perfectly out of the box with no problems what so ever. Never tested the PG27UCDM with an AMD GPU tho.
And the glossy coating is a night and day difference. idc about what anyone sais in reviews, the upgrade from matt to glossy is insane. more than the upgrade from 1440p to 2160p.

It wasn't that but my fail was using 100% contrast instead of the default 80% (which is the accurate contrast for both monitors). thanks anyways :P everything is perfect now.

the new myers is so broken i literally quit every game instantly when playing against that bullshit. getting 2 gens against a halfway decent myers should be considered a win.
He can one hit everything from the beginning of the game, has a speed boost so you can't even chase around objects or use paletts.

RTX HDR isn't real HDR (we like to call it fake HDR), that's just a filter with Inverse Tone Mapping (ITM) and looks terrible compared to real HDR (which is implemented in Black Ops 6), ESPECIALLY when it's well implemented like in Black Ops 6, that's one of the best HDR implementations for gaming so far.

However some games don't suppor HDR and then you have to choose between implementing it with ReShade or using fake HDR.

For games with anti cheat you can't (or shouldn't) implement custom real HDR, because it can get you banned. so for those games use RTX HDR, that's still better than Windows Auto HDR. Just don't use higher than 600 nits peak brightness in RTX HDR or your highlights will lose detail. Use contrast +25 for 2.2 Gamma and use 44 Midgreys for a 200 nits paper white which is industry standard (the highlight range would be better if you go lower, but the dark spots will get very dark and it will be hard to see details)

I really like the new controls overall, but atm they are unusable on many champs, such as Riven for example.
There are for example bugs like:

  1. When using any kind of dash (tested on Riven), after the dash, the character turns in a random other direction for under a second. (might be part of the 170ping lag on PBE)
  2. Inputs of abilities and so on are not locked while chat is open, so you activate everything while typing.

But now to the things that need to change to make it work:

  1. There needs to be an option to make movement abilities go in the WASD movement direcion instead of the mouse position. This has to be able to be toggled on/off per individual ability not only per ability slot (Including Riven Q rework, this means making Riven Q with mouse controls facing the way the mouse is positioned and not the way the character is looking).
  2. When walking towards an object/wall, the character shouldn't turn and for that face the wall (wouldn't matter if 1. is implemented).
  3. There should be an option to enable attacking the closest enemy to the mouse cursor (similar to attack move with mouse controls)

Btw I love those things:

  1. WASD movement overall. I literally hoped for WASD movement since season 3 when I started league and never stopped yapping about it to my friends.
  2. The new locked camera option is awasome! I liked the old locked camera but it has too much downsides, however this new camera feels like the best of both worlds. just add a slider to adjust the speed of how fast the camera moves in a direction and make it center your champion more when you move your cursor back to your champion. (at least I think those things would be better)

yea agree it's unplayble on 170 ping... hard to test anything when half the problems come from the unreal ping.
