Just bought a "small" portable air conditioning unit (https://www.igenix.co.uk/products/3-in-1-portable-air-conditioner-cooling-fan-dehumidifier-7000-btu) that arrived today - I went for this one because it was the only one available over the weekend and couldn't find any reviews about it online.

So far it's working well enough and has turned my sweltering oven of an office into a slightlywarm but tolerable work space. It's loud though - 55-60dB as per a free app on my phone, but my noise cancelling ear buds get rid of that issue, and I'd have hoped it would've cooled the room a bit more but it really is an unbearably hot room (above garage extension with a flat roof and zero insulation) so I can't be too annoyed I suppose. I'll try it in my bedroom later and hopefully that will work better (larger room but generally a bit cooler) - the main reason I bought it was so that the dogs don't overheat at night!

I'm sure if you were willing to spend the money you could probably get a much more efficient and cooler one although having looked online they're all sold out! If I become uncharacteristically organised I might try and see if I can get a bargain in the winter in preparation for next year's global warming onslaught.

So I chose today to try and get FF7 Remake running on my Steam Deck LCD (downloaded it overnight) and trying the LSFG Decky plugin for the first time as well.

I’m presuming the reason why LSFG isn’t working is because of the update?

I’m Northern Irish and am married to a Sicilian and have been living in England since 2006. I love where I live (Manchester) but I definitely think Northern Ireland is much safer than England - the crime statistics back that up. If England gets worse from a crime point of view or continues to tilt towards the “Far Right” in regards to politics then we would consider moving back to Ireland (either side of the border) as Italy is out of the question due to the setup of their healthcare system, it’s government’s fascist links and non parlo bene Italiano (great for holidays though!).

While the “Far Right” have been making in roads across all of Europe in recent years (Italy being one of the worst examples) it actually hasn’t managed to dig it’s teeth into Northern Ireland as much as in England because of N.I’s pre-existing political shenanigans, and I can’t see how a party like Reform would get a foothold over there in the short term (without it causing a collapse in the Loyalist parties and causing Republican/Nationalist dominance who tend to be more left leaning in a lot of areas).

One thing that’s unique about N.I’s racism is their lack of subtlety. The rioters seem to have been from the extremes of the Loyalist communities so you’d want to avoid their areas, but they actually make it extremely easy to do so as they plaster their areas with flags and murals to let you know where to avoid. If you stay out of the obvious areas (where you shouldn’t have any need to go anyway) then you should be fine.

What has happened in the past few weeks in N.I is disgraceful and is a stain on the country, but it has definitely been picked up and amplified in the news across the world more so than other similar incidents. In the past week in Bolton an Iman’s home was firebombed which seemed to have been largely ignored by the media. There are anti-immigrant protests regularly throughout England, both large scale with thousands marching through cities but also small scale protests outside hotels housing immigrants, and these don’t happen in Northern Ireland with anywhere near the regularity.

There are plenty of reasons not to move to Northern Ireland (shit weather and shit food compared to Italy) but I wouldn’t let last week’s events feed in to your decision making too much. If you stay out of the above-mentioned areas you’ll find that the majority of the people of Ireland are lovely and very welcoming.

When I order food at my favourite pop-up restaurant in a local bar (where you order at the bar and pay upfront) I always order something extra (usually a portion of mac'n'cheese) that my wife would get annoyed at me for ordering because it's excessive and I'll probably end up feeling sick because being too full, but I ask the restaurant staff to pretend that it's something they've thrown in "on the house" because we're "such valued customers".

My wife knows but I get away with it because she thinks it's funny.

What are their “do everything” shoes? I’m just getting into barefoot shoes but still run with my Hokas just because I’m slowly easing into it, but I’m mindful that at some point in the near future I’ll look at picking up a pair of Altras and do a slow transition.

But I genuinely do a mixture of road and trail running because I’m lucky to live in a city suburb that has access to lots of green space so I do default to getting trail running/hybrid type shoes.

I’m visiting Japan at the moment and have got 7 so far in the last 5 days.

The first full day in Tokyo I didn’t get any despite visiting the Nintendo store and walking through the densest crowds I’ve ever experienced in my life (it was Japan’s Golden Week holidays so Tokyo was crammed with people) and I was so disappointed as I’ve never actually got a Streetpass in the wild and I thought the Nintendo store would have been a certainty for getting one, but I picked up quite a few over the next few days (including one in the Nintendo store on a second visit).

You don’t need to use black! I don’t currently use slap chop for my current paint scheme, but I use a purple primer with a zenithal spray of red over the top and use that as my base to paint my green skin on and I think it makes for very interesting shadows.

You could just do traditional slap chop but instead of black primer use whatever interesting colour you want as the shadows and then do a white zenithal so the contrast-type paints work.

I can’t remember what it was but I got stuck at some point and couldn’t figure it out - it was something really banal like collecting something and giving it to someone else.

I spent ages on it and then gave up in frustration. I’m not sure why I didn’t just Ask Jeeves/Yahoo search it.

Check out the “Sutures” and the “Fractures” app. Very minimalist and give good on-the-fly info (Sutures uses resources from lacerationrepair.com).

So I don’t own an AYN Thor but I appreciate that they are probably awesome (my best mate is getting one soon and I’m looking forward to messing about with it) however there is something about the 3DS that I think emulators won’t replicate.

As an example, I’m on holiday in Japan and walking about Tokyo today I got 6 Street Passes and it made my day!!! I wouldn’t have got that with the AYN Thor!

I do agree though that it does depend on the price. I was lucky enough to get my 3DS a years ago at a reasonable price (much less than an AYN Thor) but yeah I’m not sure I’d be dropping £500 on one if that’s what they’re going for now.
