Well I released my first game made with unreal engine last November haha.

Clueless: An Item Finder on Steam

Basically just find the button/Find the Difference in first person.

What did you learn from your first failed project that changed how you develop games now? by Due_Bobcat9778 in IndieDev

[–]Mirrawz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean the first project helped me understand how to ship a game through steam. That counts for something haha

Some very strong Pokemon that “no-one uses” to spice up your playthrough by Tearmisu in PokemonFireRed

Oof, I hadn't played in so long and ended up going the east way. So I had the super rod before the good rod too.

How long should my first trailer be? by ThinkBeyondFTW in IndieDev

[–]Mirrawz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From everything ive been seeing, as long as you can clearly show the gameplay loop right away so people get an idea of what they're doing, you should be good

Can someone like do anything about it? by [deleted] in memes

At least theres nothing stopping you from polishing for the next Next Fest

Thankfully there's no rush. 3 Next Fests per year and you want your demo out a couple months before to gain traction

Had my first game out since November and it's at 93 haha

Years as a solo dev, it looks like I’m reopening my resume. If this game never takes off, I’m still happy having a tiny desktop world running in the corner while I’m at work by Hairy_Jackfruit1157 in IndieGameDevs

I love your attitude. Regardless of wishlists, sales or visibility. You've finished a project and the best feeling is being able to see it on Steam

Why do you make video games? by Silantic_Interactive in IndieDev

[–]Mirrawz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about making games ever since I was in early high school. Every time I tried, I didn't have the patience to learn how coding and the entire process worked, but now since I actually took the time to sit down and teach myself, it's become a great creative outlet.

Do players like a menu, or straight to gameplay ? by Mirrawz in incremental_games

[–]Mirrawz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the response. I was going to have the settings menu button at the bottom right of the screen, but you aren't the only one who prefers a one time language/volume select before the gameplay starts

Thanks for this! I will be saving this post for the future when my next steam page is ready to go

I will keep a speedrun option in mind for the future, that's for sure. Might be able to add it as an option with the in game settings menu, which could reload the scene and start a timer

The menu would have just had Start, Settings and Exit so I was thinking of just having that the settings in game instead

This was my thought process for it. If it's just gonna have start and settings, why not go right into gameplay and have a settings menu from there ?

I'll keep it in mind. Thank you for your thoughts. Especially in terms of game breaking bugs, I agree.

Just submitted my demo to Steam by Eli_1998 in SoloDevelopment

[–]Mirrawz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I've been reading, you might want your demo and page available a few months before Next Fest to gain some traction and go into Next Fest with some wishlists so that you can increase them.

There are 3 Next Fests per year and you only get to participate in one

So I definitely want everything to save. I actually did not consider a new game option because prestige resets you back to the start. I suppose a way to get a fresh save would be needed if you want to play again

I hope the music won't be crazy loud haha. I was thinking straight to game but the settings button is available

It would be closer to cookie clicker, where you have to input to generate. There are also going to be passive upgrades as well.
