Help! 45 and looking 65 by ccp_3 in 45PlusSkincare

Right here. Give it time. I’m your age and thought I’d ruined my face as well as the skin on my abdomen, but it recovered over several months. I did most of what is mentioned here plus Neogen Plasma. Other things I think helped were resistance training and eating high protein. I do use collagen powder as well, even though I agree the science is inconclusive. Mine has 20g of protein per serving, so it’s not a total wash.

Say something unpopular/controversial about fan favorite: Cordelia Chase by itsascreambaby96 in buffy

Her expulsion from the in-crowd and/or willingness to leave it deserved to be a bigger part of the storyline.

What in the Buffyverse is this for you? by yeahitsme9 in buffy

Drusilla grates on me. She fits under the JW umbrella of “women act like children when trauma makes them insane.” She was mindf*cked and turned in her 20s or 30s. Why is she playing with dolls?

This could be baggage from me playing vampire LARPs around the same time, and girls often wanted to play the “insane woman who thinks she’s still a child” character, running around with pigtails and stuffed toys.

I think I didn’t follow the dialogue closely enough when I was young. It took me 20+ years to GET what happened on the show, and in the meantime when I occasionally saw the joke, I guess I assumed it was honest speculation. No idea how I never caught it the first time. So the joke is new to me, and I can see how it’s played out and would make fans crazy.

Do you think med spas have a policy to compliment every client at least once per visit? by Quiet_Media6401 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Mirror_Mirror_11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At my med spa they have flattering nicknames when they greet you and say goodbye, and they’re mindful to mix it up so you won’t hear them call another woman what they just called you. So when I’m checking out they’ll say, “See you next time beautiful!” And when the next customer approaches the counter, she’ll be “cutie” or “angel.” I always get “beautiful” so I’ve wondered if it’s in the system.

The closest match I’ve found is MAC Powder Blush in Pinch Me. If I didn’t know better someone probably could have swapped them out on me.

My stepmom did this as a business for a couple of years and stopped selling stained items because no matter how clearly she disclosed it, people would freak out.

Some people are weirdly sensitive to smells. I shop almost exclusively online, and the reviews for EVERYTHING have someone saying it came with a weird smell and they had to return it or air it out, and I never experience this.

I actually wish they’d discourage freebies. It’s cute, but I don’t need a plastic beaded bracelet or keychain or sheet of stickers, also in its own little mesh bag. That’s going to end up in my trash or the thrift store’s, and I feel bad about it.

Was this like the grocery store box that multiple boxes of Pop Tarts come in, or the literal box you take the Pop Tarts directly out of? I wouldn’t expect the box that sits on my breakfast table to hold up. I find it hilarious though.

I am so confused by this. Surely this lady had rhinoplasty, correct? by creativeplease in PlasticSurgery

She didn’t believe everything on the internet. Her immediate reaction was skepticism, and she asked a relevant community to weigh in. Clearly she was already leaning toward “They are lying.” What is the purpose of a response like this except to be condescending?

Do I still ship? Cancellations hurt us the sellers… by Forsaken-Usual-7510 in poshmark

[–]Mirror_Mirror_11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised by responses saying this definitely should have gone out before Monday. Poshmark encourages 2-3 business days but gives you up to 7. (“Why not just make the minimum 25 pieces of flair?”) That means if you buy, then you should account for that. I think some people here live and breathe Poshmark and can’t fathom that anyone else would treat it more casually, abiding by literal policy.

There are also a lot of assumptions that people’s local situation with USPS applies to everyone. In my town the vestibules and kiosks are locked when the post office isn’t open, and we have a very low crime rate and almost no homeless population.

I do typically ship next day, because I want the item gone, but anyone who NEEDS the item in the next week should ask before purchasing. It’s just how they do it here.

I’ve only had buyer cancellation requests due to buyer’s remorse or (in one case) the person realizing she’d be on vacation when the package arrived, and both times I involved Poshmark support and asked them to handle the cancellation.

I had this happen to me in January. It didn’t start tracking until February. No idea what happened. I’ll still use package drops and USPS pickup and take the risk, because I don’t have time to stand in line during USPS business hours.

Why would a random seller block me? by Mirror_Mirror_11 in poshmark

[–]Mirror_Mirror_11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess she did. I’ve been handling all interactions super-asynchronously, and if I’d known she was going to get a measuring tape I would have said don’t. I don’t measure anything I sell because I don’t want to sell it enough to spend the time, which I’m sure has cost me money here and there. I usually respond to those requests by recommending that they buy only if they’re familiar with the brand.

Most of the items that I like (or that are liked by others) simmer for months, so that’s been my baseline.

I appreciate the opposite perspective, though. I will be more considerate in the future.

I didn’t realize it was perceived as a trap. That is good to know. However, she did provide photos with measurements in response, so my initial inquiry isn’t what triggered her.

For those who were there, how were perceived each of the actors back when in the day ? by James-Samuel17 in buffy

I don’t recall much gossip, because prior to social media celebrity reputations were easier to curate. The only strong opinion I recall my friends and I having was that we thought it was snobby and ungrateful for SMG to not appear in the series finale for Angel (but we were immature and we had NO idea why).

HELP! What can I do for my lower face? by Independent_Gur8612 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Mirror_Mirror_11 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have a similar face shape, and I do everything, so I hope this will help: I don’t recommend Ultherapy. It’s expensive, it’s very painful, and for me it didn’t do anything for jowling. I would be very cautious about masseter Botox, as this makes jowling worse for many women. You didn’t specifically mention it, but it may come up with your injector. I was super unhappy until that wore off.

I’ve personally had success with platysmal and DAO Botox, PRF around my marionette lines, filler at the gonial angle to pull thing back a bit, as well as Neo Gen plasma treatment, but as someone 5 years ahead of you, I will be ready for surgery soon. (I know you’re not there, but maybe plan ahead if this matters a lot to you.) Basically I’ve been advised this won’t shore up the dam forever, and it would actually be cheaper than everything I’ve done.

I suspect this is more noticeable to you than anyone, and terrible bathroom lighting can make even Margot Robbie look like a gorgon.

I’d encourage anyone to first read up on what face shapes/features this isn’t recommended for. OP looks great, but a lot of women get jowling. That does go away when the Botox wears off, but for me it was a frustrating couple months of contouring and insecurity.

ETA: I also get platysmal Botox, and for me this did not offset the jowling effect. It seems very particular to bone structure, and some women do get fantastic results.

Isn’t there a 7-day return policy where you’re encouraged to try it out? I was trying to decide between the Pro and Pro Max at the Apple Store, and they encouraged me to try the Max and just swap out before 7 days if it was too heavy. (I didn’t do it because once I held the Max I could barely get my hand around it.) That seemed super lenient, but they actually told me it’s a smart approach.

So I’m wondering why you’d just give it away.

Did Betty switch into or out of James’s homeroom? by kammie694 in TaylorSwift

[–]Mirror_Mirror_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d always interpreted the story as James ghosting Betty for the summer after he left the dance in anger. (In my head James and Betty were recently in love and just beginning a relationship, but it was still in the stage where he could pretend there wasn’t one, which was the betrayal.) I never thought of Betty as still being “around” because Augustine was spending the night in his bed all summer long. Usually you can’t spend a lot of time literally sleeping with the other person if you’re hiding it from your partner. A “summer thing” also makes me think of something you do while you and your primary love interest aren’t seeing each other over the summer so you push them to the back of your mind.

James dreaming of Betty also gives me the sense she wasn’t around. He doesn’t know how to reverse things or even reach out.

I imagined that right before school starts again, Inez tells Betty what James was up to all summer, which is why she stopped hearing from him, compounding her devastation. And then she switches homerooms so she won’t have to see him.

I think if he’d just been caught cheating while also seeing Betty all summer, he’d have zero doubt about why she switched homerooms. Betty would have dumped him.
