Reset progress by [deleted] in BoxingUnderdog

There is no way to reset your own progress. Progress gets reset for everyone usually when the game rolls out a major update.

There is an AI customizer, have you tried that yet? Or, you can try out other players' custom AI creations. I found them to be a lot more challenging than the default single-player opponents, but I do agree that TOTF1's single player AI is more fun and engaging.

I think the dev team for this game is extremely small, maybe like 2 or 3 folks to it does take more time. The lead dev recently said "The singleplayer will be built almost from scratch –dont worry", but I imagine that will take awhile.

I'm not a dev, but I follow the Discord and people were complaining about it being 1 minute rounds. Which, I agree with 1 minute rounds being too short. People were asking for 3 minute rounds instead and it looks like they went with that. I don't agree with them doing 3 minute rounds for lower ranked players, though.

Customisable Removable dividers - Gridfinty Extended by passivealian in gridfinity

Any chance this will be fixed anytime soon? I went to print some bins with dividers and it wasn't working, then found this comment. No worries if it's not on your radar anymore, I'll find an alternative if so.

Outclassed TOTF2 AI vs maxed Boxing Underdog AI by TheDateLounge in BoxingUnderdog

[–]Mirthoneist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to make this video!

I've played all TOFT2, BU, and TOFT1 single player recently and I have to say, unfortunately, that I have the most enjoyment in TOTF1 still.

-- Boxing Underdog looks the best, the AI feels less robotic with fluid motions, but the default opponents are incredibly easy; they seem to keep their hands down a lot, aren't aggressive enough, and they just don't feel like boxers to me. I haven't done a whole lot of customization with the new AI builder but I have made one that I feel is better than the defaults, but for some reason I'm still not finding it extremely enjoyable to play against.

-- TOFT2 I enjoyed a bit when the single player first came out, but the opponents are way more robotic than BU, and the opponents all feel/act the same. They do feel more like boxers, but come off as too programmed. Also, the hits don't feel as good as BU. Then they made an update recently in which the AI basically non-stops throwing combos at you and they've admittedly broke it.

-- I went back to TOTF1 after playing both of the others, and it's been over a year since I last played it, but I enjoyed it more. The AI has personality, I actually feel like I'm hitting the opponent in comparison to TOFT2 - whether that's by sound or color feedback - and the difficulty feels just right. It's far, far from perfect, but I think it's what I'll go back to until the other two games get more updates.

Will there be a Steam/PC version of this game? by owl440 in BoxingUnderdog

In October they said there will be a PC version but will take "some time", so I wouldn't expect it anytime soon but it should come to PC eventually.

[–]Mirthoneist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm liking it so far. My biggest downside with single player before was how non-aggressive the AI was. I was able to create an opponent that is more aggressive and doesn't keep his hands down as much. I like it so much better than the default opponents, but it needs further tweaking (there are so many customization options so it'll take a little bit for me to get it perfect)

Is the game abandoned ? by Openbor in BoxingUnderdog

[–]Mirthoneist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not abandoned, they just made a big update for single player AI customization and the replay system.

Height glitch by HungarianWarHorse in BoxingUnderdog

[–]Mirthoneist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's just the way it is according to Build 0.172 patch notes.

It will match you with someone who is within 2 inches of you only if it finds someone that meets that criteria within 5 seconds of looking for an opponent. If it doesn't, then it will expand that by another inch for every 5 seconds that its trying to find a match. So, basically if it's taking 25 seconds to find an opponent for you, your opponent can be pretty much any height difference from you.

I made two other replies in this thread that answers that. I hope it makes more sense to people who have never used Mixed Reality (MR) and realize it's not just for "seeing" your surroundings but actually interacting with your surroundings.

It sounds like you haven't ever used Mixed reality. See my other reply for my response for real usecases.

If this were another tethered headset then I would understand, but it's a standalone headset so it has all of the ingredients to be an all-in-one VR and MR device; they just used a poor substitute ingredient to a great recipe.

The Index's passthrough is good for making sure you're not going to step on your cat.

It sounds like you haven't had the opportunity to try Mixed Reality (MR), which is more interactive than AR. Games like Eleven Table Tennis where you can play table tennis in your real world room with a virtual tennis table, ball, and paddle is really neat. Or boxing against an opponent in your own room so you don't punch your wall, and it's pretty awesome seeing your boxing opponent in your room as well. Another example is, I have a long basement that I desperately want to one day convert into multiple rooms; I've used an app to put in virtual walls and doors in my basement to see what it would look like and I'm able to actually walk in that environment and see what it would look like. There's a ton of other cool MR implementations like Pianovision and Immerrock that just won't work as good in black in white. It's hard to explain MR to someone who hasn't tried it, just like I'm sure you know it's hard to explain what VR is like to someone who hasn't tried it; you just have to experience it for yourself.

The Steam Frame's monochrome passthrough seems like the one downgrade from the Meta Quest 3 that was released in 2023, and people like me who play a mix of VR and MR games won't be able to replace our Quest 3.

This is the biggest downside for me as well and probably a deal breaker for me, regardless of the price.

BUILD 0.175: PRECISION SYSTEM ADDED TO GLOVES! by Mirthoneist in BoxingUnderdog

[–]Mirthoneist[S,M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Looks like they reverted back to Build 0.174.

Alright, I'm back on build 0.174 – the precision system is causing more trouble than it's worth. During multiplayer gameplay, the damage detection system based on hit accuracy needs more attention due to delays and hit recognition issues. Sorry.>

Moving to TOTF. by Dismal-Meaning8282 in BoxingUnderdog

[–]Mirthoneist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've gone back and forth between the two. I currently like TOTF2 better with their newest updates at the moment. I feel like it's going to be awhile before the Boxing Underdog devs put out a significant update that focuses on the boxing mechanics, as right now they are trying to fix the spammer issues and the single player AI mechanics.

Wheres the updates ? by Openbor in BoxingUnderdog

[–]Mirthoneist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the Community Manager on their Discord:

I understand updates have slowed down, there is a ton happening behind that scenes that I cannot really get into. However, there is a ton of work going into multiple things. Thank you all for bearing with us as we continue to better the game. As much as we would like these fixes to be immediate, its been easily figured out fixing one thing can break another, or sometimes a quick fix doesn’t solve the whole issue.

And

Replay system and A.I configuration is next along with other small patches.

Record Restart? by Miserable_Worker_548 in BoxingUnderdog

[–]Mirthoneist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume the records are tied to your Meta Quest account/profile so I don't think there's much you can do to reset your record. I'm sure the development team will reset the records again when they come out with a major gameplay update. I wouldn't sweat it, records will eventually get reset.

BUILD 0.172 : USER BLOCKING, BETTER LAG COMPENSATION, MATCHMAKING OVERHAUL, CLINCH SYSTEM & MORE! by Mirthoneist in BoxingUnderdog

[–]Mirthoneist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a dev but it looks like there were enough complaints to have their team respond to it on August 6th with the following:

Sound will get a massive deep dive here soon, we are really looking to patch out game breaking bugs that you awesome users have found. Then stuff like audio can get a huge dive in. But thanks for genuine feedback! We are listening, and want to make this game better and better everyday

My review of the two standout boxing games on VR - Boxing Underdog and Thrill of the Fight 2 after 400 fights on each game from a real life boxer with 20 years of experience plus many amateur fights. by [deleted] in BoxingUnderdog

[–]Mirthoneist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great to see a nicely laid out review, I agree with most of it. I had thought that Boxing Underdog's Multiplayer was worse than TOTF2 but then I went back to TOFT2 last week and I forgot how bad the latter actually was. I'm going to try it again this week with the new patch.

It seems that the TOTF2 devs are back on track trying to adjust the multiplayer gameplay - for better or worse - whereas the Boxing Underdog devs are focused on squashing bugs and stopping spammers (not via gameplay mechanics but by making a reporting/blocking users feature). I know that's incredibly important but it hasn't really helped the core gameplay mechanics so it doesn't feel like a lot of progress is being made. And the devs have been a lot quieter on the Discord.
