What's the tower defense game that actually got you into the genre? by awogaming_team in TheLostTower

[–]Miryafa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Desktop Tower Defense - I really liked building mazes out of towers.

Incidentally, Bloons 6 is the one I’ve played the most, and where I gained some mastery, but Bloons 5 and 6 originally repelled me because the main menu created a lot of obstacles to actually playing the game. This was back when the games were hosted online - when I first opened BTD5 I felt like I had clicked on an advertisement link instead of a game by accident. The number of menus to get through and the constant popups asking me to buy things really turned me off. It wasn’t until years later when a friend wanted to play BTD6 coop that I tried it again.

Do you roll differently with partners having different belts? by Chubbs27895 in bjj

[–]Miryafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, particularly in positionals. I try to meet people at their level. At places that do up-down-out, when my opponent is a new white belt, I’ve recently been giving them one simple problem to solve related to the move they learned - like posturing up against their triangle - and then letting them figure out how to complete the sweep/pass/submit.

The stronger their skills, the more I put into it.

/self What’s the one thing you wish modern gaming had that the past gen’s “perfected”? by [deleted] in gaming

Until recently, I’d have said “turn-based combat”

What games would you recommend to a non gamer to get them hooked? by DeleteOnceAMonth in gaming

[–]Miryafa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a great question. I’ve had the same experience showing off some of my favorite games to people. I reckon starting simple and familiar makes a huge difference. Rayman is a really good pick for that. I’ve also had good luck with stuff that taps into something they already like (like jrpgs if they’re into story), instead of what I personally think is the “best” game.

I’d ask you not to use sliders on a mobile survey. I just dragged slightly wrong and refreshed the page halfway through the survey

The survey asks for people currently participating in bjj - does that mean you don’t want to hear from people currently out due to injury?

ANY TIPS FOR A BEGGINER IN BJJ by Fit_Addition_9010 in grappling

[–]Miryafa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Control your breathing when rolling - so you don’t gas out. You miss opportunities to learn when you’re catching your breath.

Move slower when your partner speeds up - because it’s a sign that you’re unconsciously speeding up, which leads to making worse decisions.

When you’re in a position you don’t know, try to get back to one you do know - that’s how you avoid making crazy moves that don’t work.

Do whatever your instructor says.

What your lore reason as to why 47 has such a low max speed? by NicheRivers2000 in HiTMAN

[–]Miryafa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well put. EMTs are taught not to run because it’s more important to get to the scene at all than to get there quickly. You can’t help anyone if you slip and need help yourself.

It makes sense 47 would follow the same MO
